Game Thread Spurs (35-16) vs Mavs (19-32) (Sat 2/7/26) [5:00PM CST] on Amazon Prime

Honestly I don’t love the majority of potential first round matchups.

Think we’d be underdogs against Denver/Minnesota/Houston/LA. Wouldn’t feel super confident against GS/Phoenix/LAC either but I guess with GS losing Butler and LAC trading Harden/Zubac those might be less worrisome matchups.

Really don’t see any 1st round matchups that make me go “Oh we’d be clear and decisive favorites against those guys”. Maybe that’s just a sign that I don’t really believe in this team :st-lol:

We wouldn't be underdogs against the Rockets. Probably not against the Lakers either.

The rest is just life in the West tbh.

warriors/clippers would be very easy outs at this point. warriors without Butler are going to be red meat. clippers still have nephew but lost harden and zubac. garland is fine but he's no harden. those are the two i have zero concern about

otherwise we generally match up well with the lakers as long as ayton isnt outplaying wemby. they are just miserably defensively out on the perimeter, other than smart who is solid, but we can always pick and choose matchups with our ballhandlers.

rockets have given us fits with Sengun, but in a long series without Adams, i still like our odds.

wolves/suns/nuggets concern me, but with denver their health questions are legitimate right now

Just wanted to point out... we got some real schedule luck by not having to face the Clippers in that stretch from 12/20/25 to 2/1/26 when they went 17-4

your favorite resource crafted NBA doesnt seem to have docked the clippers "projected team strength" figure, still have them ahead of even us on that

You don't fuck around with back pain tbh. If its serious soreness they should sit him out until after the ASB.
I took thoracic pain to go with the illness (like a chest cold). You’re right though; either way wouldn’t want him getting our guys sick.

Lets get it tbh. I have given up hoping for blowouts. So long as we close the games out I guess.
Typically, we're too inconsistent with our 3s and perimeter defense to blow teams out.

We also have a target on our backs now.

We're not just some scrub team anymore. Teams get up to play Wemby.

I still think we should be blowing out some teams, and especially not keep fucking blowing leads. But it is what it is tbh, as long as we win I guess.

Season is long and I just wanna get to the playoffs.

This would be a good game for Fox to sit and run Castle and Harper in traditional one PG lineups with maybe like 5-10 minutes of overlap... maybe get Harper up to that 30 minute mark as well.

If Kornet sits, I'd also like to give Jeremy a shot at backup C and see if the deadline put a hunger into him. We joke... but if he came out with a shaved head I think that would actually be a pretty interesting symbolic gesture towards a new, focused and more dedicated Jeremy. Maybe we'll see the Sad Keldon to Epic Keldon transformation take place (hashtag CIA Pop with the DJM mindgames)

I wouldnt mind giving Jeremy run in general tbh. Might as well salvage his time here FWIW.

I have hated on the dude because of his play but not because of who he is as a person. His demeanor being benched/uncertainties on his career have been generally good IMO from what we see on camera. We forget that this dude is still young and this trade saga must have been mentally draining for him.

For sure. I have seen speculation that maybe there is something behind the scenes, but he appears to have been a good soldier throughout. On the latest episode of Silver & Black Coffee Hour they mentioned that he seemed a little less than himself on the bench during the OKC game, but dude legit thought that might be the last time he ever sat on the bench with these guys he's developed relationships with over the last 4 years. Can't blame him for that.

Hopefully this is a pivot point for him.

Apprehension is understandable given this team's inexperience and the way they've played against teams they're supposed to beat. But I think they actually have a pretty good record against most good teams.

Please start Harper.
