Game Thread Spurs (35-16) vs Mavs (19-32) (Sat 2/7/26) [5:00PM CST] on Amazon Prime

Still confident be beat that 2006 Heat team in the Finals tbh. Don't think Wade would've shot a million FT's against our Defense. Manu's G7 foul on Dirk still hurts :st-cry:
2006 team was the best Spurs team to never win it all 100%.. But can't win em all and while Manu had the brain cramp of a lifetime, we never win rings 4 rings without him..

Oh, for sure. I doubt it would have gone more than 5.
It might've gone 6 tbh. Just because guards were giving us some problems that year. Bonzi Wells and Jason Terry both worked us in the first 2 rounds. But that 2006 Heat team was one of the weaker Finals teams of the 2000's. It took D-Wade getting an elite whistle and shooting an NBA Finals record amount of FT's for them to barely beat that Mavs team. Think the Spurs handle them in 5 or 6 at most.

The question then becomes whether or not we 3-peat in 2007. Failure is nature's most powerful motivator. Are we as hungry in 2007 if we just repeated? Or at least hungry enough to overcome that really good Pistons team in 7 games? Who knows.

Derek Anderson probably would have emerged from the shadows to exact revenge on us for sending him off for fuckin' Steve Smith

Hot take, but I think 2017 would give them a run for their money.
We were shitting on the Warriors even without Tony, if both him and nephew stayed healthy, we would've had a chance to beat the most stacked team ever.

I appreciate 2014 for sure.. That was glorious. Outside of that I have tried to erase that sniveling weasel from my memory..

Yea that whole contract situation was dumb. Spurs wanted DA to take a $5M pay-cut on his deal with only 25% of his final year guaranteed. Not surprised to said FU to the Spurs tbh, who promptly traded he and Kerr for Steve Smith. Blazers gave him his full 6-year deal, but it ended up being a blessing in disguise for us imo, at least long-term, as he was never the same player again. He became injury-prone just a couple years after the trade and ended up bouncing around the league as trade fodder.

See game in on Prime and FanDuel. Will it be the same announcers for both or will Prime be different than our home town guys?

This is all headed straight towards a first round matchup with DEN after they fall to 7.
Would be pretty unlucky but it's definitely possible with all their injuries and with the West being so tight. We'll get a clearer picture with about 10-15 games left in the season. There's 30 left right now.

- Denver and Minnesota would be worst case scenario imo.
- Phoenix I'd rather avoid too if possible, but I'd def take them over the two above.
- Lakers I think we'd beat, but their fraudulent whistle scares me. Keeps games closer than they should be.
- Warriors I doubt get up there but even without Jimmy, I'd rather avoid Curry tbh.
- Houston would be my top choice, especially with Adams out for the season. Would love nothing more than to send them home in the first round tbh.

Rockets and Suns would be a physical series where they might just try to intentionally hurt players tbh. Should be rooting for the Rockets to end up at 7 and lose to the Dubs in the play-in tbh. Sets them up to play a physical series with OKC while the Spurs should be able to survive Curry going apeshit in two games.

That said, way too early to be assuming the Spurs stay the #2 seed.

Also true. All it takes is one bad week in the West to drop 2-3 spots. Nuggets' injuries and Houston's offense falling off a cliff lately are giving us some breathing room though.

Speaking of Houston's offense, this is the main reason I'd love to play them in the First Round. Their offense is sputtering as they continue to rely on 37 1/2 year-old KD to be their offensive engine. And teams are hunting Sengun and Sheppard left and right on the other end.
