Game Thread Spurs (31-14) vs Pelicans (11-36) (Sun 1/25/26) [6:00PM CDT]

I'd like to see more physicality and effort, even at the expense of pure and ethical basketball.

Dylan should be a closer, with his ability to create and find people open, instead of just dumping to Wemby for a 50/50 shot.

Physicality is such a catch-all generic word.

I fairly often see plenty of physicality from this team that I would prefer not to see. Like driving recklessly into the paint when you're not a very good ball handler and turning it over (Castle.) Like trying a difficult dunk when a layup would suffice.

What we lacked tonight was an offensive plan, discipline, and box outs. Also making open shots and free throws.

I really hope this is something I’ll be ashamed of later on for asking, but is Wemby really that guy?

Effort and focus was absolutely a problem in this game. Big picture though, this team has no bread-and-butter.

Lots of young talent, crazy talent in Wemby’s case, but he and the team have no idea what they’re doing in the half court. Mitch doesn’t have an offense of his own and he’s not running someone else’s proven sets consistently.

This team needs direction, consistency and continuity. The team is ahead of schedule record-wise, but they’re still playing as if they’re trying to figure out what they’ve got.

Pick a direction, a game plan and execute. No more we’re young, it’s a process bullshit.

None of this is guaranteed, health or otherwise. You’ve got potential to make a run, no more excuses - and no more preserving an individual’s starting streak or benching your future point at the expense of your team’s success.

Another loss where Mitch takes no accountability. Notice how he emphasizes physicality, something that he has no tangible hand on. Fucking spineless turf

:st-lmao: two days of rest
:st-lmao:at home
:st-lmao:11-36 Pelicans on B2B
:st-lol: "We are just missing Vassell"
:st-lol: det Fox extension is going to be so ugly
:st-lol: "Best backcourt in the league"
:st-lol:How is our shooting coach not fired yet after all these years
:st-lol: Mitch Johnson getting this job without open interviews

Barnes has become unplayable since the cup games. Carter Bryant should take his spot in the SL but seniority type shit it won’t happen. Castle is still a bucket of cum. Cant shoot, has a low IQ, defensively he's regressed.

Really wemby 2-6 at freethrow line? Lmao
I'm more worried about 2/10 from three. He should never be putting up 10 threes unless he is on an absolute heater, tonight was the opposite

Also, 19 offensive rebounds given up, 21 more shots for the Pelicans...hard to win many games like that.

Spurs deserved to lose with that effort.

We keep joking about AI, but are we sure Mitch isn't a low effort AI controlled by Pop?
No one should joke about AI. It's playing a big part in the destruction of the USA right now. Major scourge.

That said, Mitch should be able to find better rotations even if he was an AI bot

With all the bull most all game long, in clutch time:

Turnovers
Lack of 3D

FFS this team mentally is marshmallow soft.

spurs played with no inteseity

spurs have like 6 losses equally as bad as this one lol
Nope. Losing to a 11-36 team at home with your full squad healthy and available? Nothing worse has happened this season to this point.
