Game Thread Spurs (31-14) vs Pelicans (11-36) (Sun 1/25/26) [6:00PM CDT]

Terribly played and coached first half.
Yes the refs missed the out of bounds call but getting a tech over it when you have Wemby taking the jump?
Pull your heads in Spurs.

When this team isnt making the open 3s their game gets UGLY. Down 9 at half to an 11-36 team level ugly

It hasn't been obvious since the teams around us in the standings have been losing a lot too, but the Spurs have been a really mediocre team since we beat OKC for the third time.

The spurs are playing with the bbiq of a lottery team. They brain dead and lazy out there

Shameful first half performance but expected. We never show up to play against these guys. Always play down to them. Lazy, uninspired effort. Have to come out with much better energy in the 2nd half and turn it around EARLY to change momentum or this could be a long night.

The Spurs wouldn't be crazy to think that, but Victor was probably 12.
Zion should be getting treated like young LeBron. Not sure if it’s their game plan or Vic’s ego, it’s a terrible strategy, regardless.

This team’s use of Vic and overall offensive strategy has been pretty terrible. Their talent carries them, but their construction and utilization leaves a lot to be desired.

Not sure why anyone is surprised tbh. If not for a couple of meltdowns and clutch time plays going the Spurs' way the Pels would be on their way to a season sweep of the Spurs. They're another tough match up for this team that exposes their lack of a legitimate PF.

It’s been very obvious actually.

Yes.
We play like we have 20% BBIQ.
Individual performances gets us wins, not an well rounded game plan.

is it that complicated to run a pick and roll between our center and our PG, to play down low with Wemby?
I think the biggest issue is those Pels players would truck through Wemby’s lower body potentially leading to injuries. They’re all pretty big at the POA.

There was a game not too long ago where Fox and Wemby were running DHOs and pick and rolls and they worked great. I don’t understand why we can’t see more of those two play off of each other.

if a player like KG could make a career playing down low shooting fade away jumpshots, Wemby should be able to do it

Spurs are 7-6 this season when trailing at half. 3rd best margin in the NBA.

Pels are 7-10 this season when leading at half. 3rd worst margin in the NBA.

Means nothing, but bears mentioning.
