Game Thread Spurs (31-14) vs Pelicans (11-36) (Sun 1/25/26) [6:00PM CDT]

I was thinking about this game might get cancelled but i'd guess half the league plays multiple games in worse weather than this on the daily.
Up north it wouldn't be a problem but this is in a city where a storm like this is rare. Iirc, San Antonio only has two trucks that can do de-icing on the roads.

Yeah, the city will basically close for a day or two. We are not ever ready for this shit, especially the ice storm shit.

Is this game not going to happen? I did read about bad weather in the US, but didn't realize it was that bad.

No word yet. Bad ice storm, and it will barely nudge above freezing today. SA isn’t equipped to deal with those conditions.

Yeah, no, that is completely understandable. Like someone else said, some places are used to that and it's not as hard for them, but if SA isn't used to those conditions, I understand it's a lot harder to deal with it in those circumstances. Thanks for the update.

Taking my son to his first non-preseason scrimmage game tonight. Have the spurs app, but not twitter. Counting on you guys to keep me abreast of the situation.

You'd think they would announce it soon...Game is just 8 hours away.

Game on! Now we need some sunshine to clear the roads.

Did San Antonio actually get ice/snow? We got a good layer in north Austin, I sure as hell don't plan on driving anywhere soon

Thawing out in Boerne. Amazon drivers in full swing. They may have had more ice in the city so it will be a game time decision.

Temperatures in SA are as high as 40 leading up to game. Where I live in the hill country 45 minutes north they stay in the 20s all day and drop to as low as 15 in the am. Temperature will drop fast after the game. There won't be ice in 40 degree weather this afternoon.

It's mostly a matter of resources. Cities up north have armies of equipment to clear roads. The towns I live and work in don't even have a street sweeper. The roads up here were a hockey rink yesterday.

Good thing everyone stocked up on bread and milk
:st-lol:

I line in Guadalupe county in a first ring suburb, and our forecast is nowhere near being in the 40s, just a high of 34. Can’t imagined the city is more than a few degrees warmer, maybe 36-37.

That being said roads are OK, with bridges still being a little dicey.

Spurs by 18pts after leading by 30+. Still would be nice to see everybody back in action. GSG! :st-flag: :st-flag: :st-flag:
