Man this team falls asleep so much on defense off the ball off any movement and on switches/picks.

Steph, Fox, Barnes seem the worst at it. Steph is a good on ball defender but he’s really really bad off the ball.

It absolutely makes sense why this team has a defensive rating of 118.3 when Wemby is off the floor which would rank 26th in the league just ahead the Jazz, Wizards, Kings, Pels. Doesn’t seem like it’s getting better as the season goes on. And that’s with an elite rim protector in Kornet playing most of those non Wemby minutes.

I’m not sure what’s the bigger issue right now, the non Wemby defense and 3 point defense in general, or the shooting issues. Both huge issues which will ultimately cap this teams ceiling in the playoffs. I’d rather matchup with a non 3 point gunning team like the Rockets or Lakers over a team like the Warriors or Suns who would just kill the Spurs on wide open 3 point shooting. Another reason why the Spurs match up well with the Thunder.
