Game Thread Spurs (23-8) vs Cavs (17-16) (Mon 12/29/25) [7:00 PM CDT]

Any one else disappointed that Wemby's feel for game hasn't progressed at all in Year 3..Our best player shouldn't be killing our momentum in end of Qs/halves
He's been jerked around with his playing time during his comeback from his calf injury. They stayed with the Off the Bench thing too long instead of getting him reassimilated into the starting lineup and getting the team back at rhythm. It's partially the coach's fault

I'm resigned to the fact that this is who he is and he probably won't change.

Nikola Jovic the star of the DEN-MIA game

Not the way to close out the half. Had a chance to go up 13, then Wemby got cute and instead we only lead by 6.

Need to stay locked in
He had a bad series of plays. Out of control throwing it out of bounds then botched the lob dunk. Add Castle's sloppy handling and finished the half -5.

Pretty good defensive half. They contest a lot and didn't give Mitchell easy looks. Wemby and Kornet are obviously a huge component to this matchup after missing them the first game.

Damn Jokic limped off vs the Heat. He was grabbing his knee I think. Might’ve been an ankle. Did not look good.

Vic sometimes displays very low BB IQ when he starts forcing highlight plays and passes. It's like they are not coaching him enough, maybe are scared to offend him that he will as out of SA. :p
Its a young team so mistakes will happen but they are making it unnecessarily hard for themselves and good teams will always punish that.

Set consistent rotations are important to a team's development. Once again, glad our other players had a chance while Victor was out to carve out roles but these chaotic rotations do not help this team. This team will not feel consistent until rotations are set and everyone has a better idea of what they will be doing from game to game.

Castle tends to go a little too Kobe at times, but I'm hoping to chalk that up to youth. I'm confident he'll learn to play more under control as he develops
His ball handling just isnt as smooth as Fox or Harper at this point. He's still a work in progress, needs more consistency. When he locks in though the guy can go off on people at both ends.

Something to watch for sure. But I see it more as readjusting to being reinserted into the starting line up and figuring out how to play with the guards who have thrived in his absence.

Agreed

It's not that, of course he's progressed, but his lows are VERY low and when he's cold he looks stupid sometimes.

Not sure the reason, maybe the rotations, the little time left maybe rushed him? he sometimes takes some time to warm up to the flow of the game.

He's had some REAL lows today

Meanwhile, Pelicans have scored 75 on the Knicks in the first half, with bb favorite Bey scoring 26.

He's 21 and most of what infuriates us is linked to lack of maturity or situational awareness, so I'm quite confident he'll get better at those.

I think it is Vic's mindset. He fully understand and is aware that he is rarest unicorn with guard skills and unparalleled height.

He has said it many times that he want to be different and play out of the box and do stuff that no one has ever seen before. This mean that he will have to try risky play and make highlight plays. He might even feel "pressured" to do such stuff for his fans.

If he could just be like Joker or even Nephew and focus on his strength, he would be a much better player. There are just times that he try to do too much and resulted in bad TOs

Halftime adjustments:
- Make Wemby an off ball offensive weapon, not on ball
- Get Fox going with some early play calls
- Drop coverage is fine in the lane but when guys drift to the 3pt line we have to cover them

Run some plays to get Victor easy opportunities down low as you start the half

Seddiq Bae playing his way out of acquisition range.

I actually just want NOP to stay put. They’re a fun team, hopefully DJM comes back strong for them.

If we cut down on the sloppy plays, this won’t be close. Mitchell will have to go nuclear for them to be in it.
