Game Thread Spurs (17-7) vs Thunder (24-1) (Sat 12/13/25) [8:00PM CDT]

If both of Duncan's knees weren't cooked and the Spurs didn't run into a terrible matchup with OKC in the 2nd round, they would have beaten the Warriors in 2016. They matched up so well with them. Only 6 wins behind them in the standings. Warriors were exploitable at that time which is why they lost to Cleveland.

OKC is a different monster. We do matchup better against them than most other teams, but they really do not have any weaknesses. I'm excited to see how we look even if they blow us out. They are the team in the way of the Spurs and best to get a mini playoff matchup right now.

Can't wait for the media narrative changes/knee jerk reactions if we lose on Saturday though.

I don’t know, warriors did very well against us in the regular season. That 2016 spurs team was arguably the most overrated of spurs teams. Even when trying to keep the score in the 80’s warriors still beat us at home.

Bayern seem more analogous to the Lakers than they do the Spurs. Big market, big budget, get's all the players.

Spurs have always more reminded me of my favorite Bundesliga team: BVB. Scrappy, homegrown, underdogs.

Except we never send our best assets to the Lakers haha

Next to the Spurs my second big sports team is Bayern Munich. I've been a member for mor than35 years now (man, I'm getting old...) and it in our DNA not to give a fuck who we play. We are Bayern, we're gonna fuck you up. That's the mentality I hope these guys will develop.
it's also in your DNA to buy every other teams best players and if they up for contention with Bayern, y'all just buy half of their team. Basically the LA Lakers of german soccer :st-lol:

OKC to me is beyond scary not just because of the squad, but because the media pays them no attention. I think that probably pisses them off. So they have this mindset of we are going to go about our business and be one of the best teams of all time and go back to back. You guys keep talking about the Lakers.

Suddenly my hopes for this game have skyrocketed.

I'm hoping Vic is willing to come in and just be a defensive presence mostly and not force the offense. Easy buckets, lobs, moves down low, etc. If the offense comes it comes, but we've been descent in that area, what we really need him on is a big body in the paint on the other end.

I mean, Duncan missed like 3 out 4 games against them essentially as the wheels came off completely in January of that season. If Tim had simply had a 15-16 season that was similar to his 14-15 season we win 70 games that year. Crazy to think what a difference 1 year can make on a player at the end of their career. Tony was washed as well compared to what he was a couple years prior.
