Player Speaking on the #Spurs two weeks before training camp, Stephon Castle made clear his confidence in his team is inviolable.

Having b2b legit rookie of the years with of course Vic now being annual MVP candidate.

Spurs are heading in right direction for sure.

I think Castle finishing the season with meaningful minutes will have ultimately helped him going into this season.

Not sure Harper will have that same luxury but I’m hoping Fox can at least have some positive impact on Harper/Castle like Paul did for Castle.

The biggest question mark for this season is how the Fox/Castle/Harper combo works out.

That said...I think this is a great situation for Harper to be coming into. He has an All-Star vet and a rising star to learn from without the pressure of being thrust into a starting role with high expectations. It's not like he is an NFL QB coming in and expected to start WK1

Let Fox and Castle run the starting unit, and put Harper in charge of the bench...then lets see how things go

I expect Fox to be an All Star this year. The best player he had with him in Memphis was Sabonis. While he's no slouch he is a couple of notches below Vic. With Vic playing at a muscular 265 pounds this year I expect at worst a top 3 MVP consideration.

We’re about to find out, season is almost here. We should at least make a splash in the playoff hunt for sure.

In Sacramento.*

Anyhow, Fox averaged 25/4/6 over 264 games in 2020-2024.
48/34/75 with 1.5 steals, as consistent as it gets.

Him and Sabonis were actually a bad fit because both do their best work in the paint. Add the lack of shooters into the equation and it was obviously poorly constructed roster.
As Fox said in one of his interviews, even in those few games with Wemby it was the first time in both of their careers that they could find themselves in PNR situations where they're not the focus of both defenders. In theory Wemby is a perfect big to partner with Fox.

And don't forget that he's been one of the best clutch performers in the league for years.

He's no defensive stalwart, but as we've seen with the Spurs whenever Wemby wasn't on the floor, it's impossible to have a positive team defense without a good rim protector. And it's not like Sabonis is much better at that than Collins was.
Playing with Wemby is a complete game changer and while I don't expect for to be an all-defense candidate, he'll surely be a positive on that end of the floor because with Sweeney and Williamson our schemes will be way better and Fox will have energy to expend on defense because he won't have to do most of the work on offense.

I'm hopeful, but not sure I expect it unless Wemby cuts down the TOs.
If Wemby can become 75% of the passer/facilitator Sabonis turned into like 2-1 Ass/TOs vs Wemby 1-1, Fox and Castle will go nuts cutting to the hoop and getting to the line. Think Wemby has that potential, just gotta stop the stupid KAT-esque TOs which I think he can do in his 3rd yr.
If he can turn 1 or 2 of those TOs/game into assists, get above 1.5:1 Ass/TO, Fox will look like an All-Star.

as much as we loved what we saw from Castle as a rookie, and as boring/pedantic as it sounds, its just going to come down to shooting with him. a starting SG/SF who is a complete liability from 3 is incredibly difficult to work with, especially when the rest of our lineup is not exactly the splash bros

That's where I'm at. I expect him to be fine with all other aspects. It just comes down to shooting..

Need to see these assholes play for a month or two, to see if their shooting actually improved or if it was all just Ben Simmons off season workout video fluff.
