Player The blessed howl's moving castle of Stephon Javonte

Castle at the 2 more off ball when Fox returns is interesting. Fox can penetrate for Castle to cut to the rim and ideally focus on mid range game and drawing contact at the rim. Maybe let Champ, Devin, and even Waters spot up outside for open 3s.

And that doesn't even account for Wemby and his mid range game that is a drop step away from a post up.

Exciting times.

OKC has focused heavily on IQ in their drafting. Smart players can improve in a hundred ways. Guys who are not particularly mature relative to their age *cough* aren’t going to figure a whole lot out. Shooting included.

Steph seems much more accurate shooting corner 3s. There are still some bad misses when he shoots from the top of the key. I expect FT% to go up to 70% like last season, but he has to get to 80 in his career. With all the fouls he’s drawing, he‘s missing out on a ton of points here.

I think off the dribble 3’s specifically is where he might be weak, which, to be fair is a skill only the best of the best can do. He can still develop it, but he’ll need a lot of reps so I hope he doesn’t lose confidence. If the opponent gives you that much space it messes with your psyche. What he should do when he’s dared to shoot like that is pass it to a teammate first then have the teammate pass it back to him and then shoot. It’s weird but I see a lot of players do this and they make it.

All the more reason to have him play off Fox. More catch and shoot looks, and just have him be an advantage exploiter

OKC hasn't had a non-gimmie draft pick be any good for years now, other than the admittedly great hit of Jalen Williams. Otherwise it's been a ton of misses. Topic and Sorber are still uncertain, but they drafted Ousmane Dieng, gave up on Giddey. They didn't keep Dereck Lively and Alperen Sengun and even Immanuel Quickley in the last five or six years.

Their foundation is getting SGA in the trade that Kawhi forced, getting Chet Holgrem, hitting gold with J-Will and pulling a lot of players out of the heap like Dort. Their role players haven't really come through the draft.

None. In 1275 total games (regular season + playoffs), only once did Manu have 8 turnovers and 4 times he had 7. He never had 9+ turnovers.

And two of those 4 times were during his third year where he averaged the most turnovers of his career at an older age than castle. Are you implying manu didn’t have a reputation of playing with reckless abandonment or castle’s bad are destined to always outweigh his good and he never should be allowed manu’s freedom?

I wasn't implying anything, I just pointed out something that was factually wrong: you presented as common ("how many times...?") something that never happened, in fact only 5 times out of 1275 games (0.4%) came even remotely close (99.6% of the time was off by more than 50%). Also, Castle's TOs yesterday looked sloppy more than overly aggresive, that didn't really remind me of Manu. Not to harp on Castle, who is plenty young, but it just didn't seem to me like the best example overall.

Was thinking about Wallace and Mitchell in particular here. But I think Jdub obviously is a good example compared to what another team in a nearby state drafted around that time. And Chet is an extreme weirdo but he knows the game and that pick had some controversy attached to it right?

But there’s a consistent approach of drafting goofballs - sure. But dudes who are serious students of the game.

Let's hope that +1 is either Champ or Olynyk and not Jeremy or Keldon.
Keldon can shoot on catch and shoots it's when he's off the dribble or trying to create that it goes out the window. His Rookie and Second years showed this then the team went to hell around him.... As a first or second option with the ball in his hand he goes into wrecking ball mode and can only charge at the basket.

Castle driving to the basket time and time again shouldn't be the go-to move for this team offensively. I hope the coaching staff will tell/teach him that.

If he’s drawing fouls, I don’t see why not. We went from a time where we had no players who could draw fouls to now. Getting the opposing team in foul trouble is good strategy. I think if he does develop the mid range pullup from last night, it would be a good addition when the paint is too crowded.

drawing fouls is great, shooting 60% of them is not... if you make a living on the line you better convert them at a decent clip

He’ll be fine. Once Fox is back he’ll go back to his off ball role where in think he’ll thrive.

I don't look at a lot of pictures or anything to know how often he wears them, but I've noticed he wears glasses sometimes, so I'm wondering how well he sees on the court and if that has any impact on his shooting.

Castle playing solid all things considered tbh. The TOs will be resolved once Fox is back and I'm not worried about the FT shooting.

I like his aggressiveness tbh, shaping up to be the great secondary playmaker that we all thought he'd be. Needs to keep up the aggression rather than tone it down tbh.

I agree we are bitching a lot on Castle but most of it is quite undeserved, he is having a solid beginning. I agree TOs are not that worrisome as he won't the primary ball handler anyway. For the FTs I'm a bit worried, he shot 72% last year which is ok for TD but not for a guard. He is a slightly worst version of Wade who never shot better than 80% his whole career iirc

arite so after preseason and the opener against Dallas, everybody wanted to trade Fox

now after 3 more games, everybody wants to trade Castle

wonder when people will start wanting to trade Harper lol

Form looks fine, I think he's just in his own head a bit. Should shake out once he hits 5-6 in a row tbh.
