Game Thread Playoffs Round 1, Game 4: Spurs @ Blazers (2-1) (Sun 04/26/2026) [2:30 CDT]

I’ve been dogging Portland all series long, but I gotta admit, their defense is like looking in a mirror

How does Wemby not go in and pass that instead

Good call by Mitch to pull Fox here… THERE YOU GO LUKE

fucking look at that shit. Blake Wesley yelling at Steph when taking that three. Steph should tell him, sit your ass down scrub.

vassell has played some fantastic D on avdija... just as i predicted

the spirit of sacramento calling out to fox in every high-leverage situation ever:

Now this is a fair point. But I’d also say that our team isn’t built on this premise (and it’s hard to argue it should have been given the results of the season). I don’t see how we could expect to just completely change the team’s DNA come playoff time. The team’s success is built around a dispersed load that only his peak load on Victor. I don’t think we have a backup playbook that would even facilitate a Fox centric approach… maybe we should have had one?
For me it's not about forcing an offense around Fox...we shouldn't...he has always been a great one on one or pick and roll scorer type player. My issue is him not forcing the issue when the team is playing poorly.

Good example is that three Julian hit. Wemby throws it ahead to Fox, Clingan lumbers toward him, he pulls it out, passes to Julian. I would have preferred he pulled it out and just instantly attacked Clingan. Make this lumbering oaf make an athletic play. Worked out for us with that 3 but I don't want Fox playing like some high end role player and to me that is how he has played all series. Would rather him be more aggressive looking for his own shot that throwing cross court passes to a shooter.

If this is really the way Fox is going to play then I'd want him traded and rather spend that 50 mil on a 3rd center and another wing. We don't need to be paying a guy 50 to 60 million a year to be throwing cross court passes when the only thing between him and the rim is Lurch.

With all that said...I expect there to be several "Fox" playoff games because he is just to cagey and dynamic of a scorer for there not to be. And if I'm being fair he is also adjusting to a role he has never been in where he is the number 2 but also has a 3 and 4 (harper and castle) right behind him and might just flat out be better than him by this time next season. He has a lot to process and learn as well.

Deni just fouled Wemby 3 times in the span of 3 seconds but I guess you can just guard wemby differently
I've been saying that all season. How is that all getting let go and other players get softer/touch fouls?
