Game Thread Playoffs Round 1, Game 2: Spurs vs Blazers (1-0) (Tue 04/21/2026) [7:00 CDT]

Just had little identify down the stretch. Deni was locked up but Henderson was a monster.

They won’t have Wemby next game, they’ll get home court back though. Wemby back for game 4, close this shit out in 5

Devin has had big games, but I’ve never known him to be clutch. Frustrating that he got those last shots

no wemby and this series goes 7, its only one game...cant expect our guys to play any worse...With Wemby, series is over in 5 or 6.

Damn. Rough loss. Spurs are gonna learn a lot about themselves right now.
This is how every team does it. They either can choose to be great or choose not to be great. It's going to be fun to watch.

This game felt off from the beginning, kudos to Portland for stepping it up because our guys were affected from the jump. This loss is on everyone, even when they stepped it up it was only short lived.

Welp…

The boys now have to work their asses off and vic has to come back and learn how to play under control. I think vic was overexcited and was trying to do everything all at once and he needs to get under control and dominate while not going a million miles per hour in his head/imagination.

Time for that “appropriate fear” as the boys were starting to get a little full of themselves.

This is the beauty of a 7 game series…ups and downs and physicality until both teams hate each other.

Spurs have to win this- no excuses- they need to muster up some balls and take this series from these kunts. Playoffs are not for pussies.

BELIEVE.

Wish we didn’t go away from Fox after his quick 6 points to start the 3rd and then expect him to turn it on with 5 minutes to go. That’s on both Mitch and Fox combined.

Spurs nards shriveled up into their guts in the clutch tonight

We are still the favorite in this series tho… let’s bounce back

Who’d you rather have?

Fox was shitting the bed. Steph shot a million airballs. Champagnie would brick 2 free throws in the clutch.

Devin at least has had the reputation to show up in “big” games.

I mean, I knew the Spurs were going to go 16 and 0 and win every game by 70 points even without Victor so...
I would've been less mad if we never came back from that early 15 points deficit than this.
Not getting a single good look for like 6 minutes is just terrible coaching that has no excuse.

There's no short cut to learning how to win these games, for the players and for Mitch. Hope we learn from it. If this is what we're gonna get from Fox in these situations, then he's not the one and we should look to move him. I'm not ready by any stretch to believe thats the case, but he really did not do what he needed to do and it was he more than any one else that needed to step up in the fourth.
Watch the replay highlights of the OKC christmas game and ask yourself if we've seen that Fox IN MONTHS

Up 14 points in the 4th against a team with arguably the least firepower in the entire playoffs and you manage to choke it away int he most embarrassing fashion.
Wemby or not, doesn't matter, it's a team that we should be beating every single time.

Culprit #1: Mitch. How many possessions did we waste by just taking it back out and giving Castle the ball without any kind of run up, so he can cosplay as Westbrook? His statline is great considering how much he pounded the ball with no production.
At one point it was 16 FG for Castle, 10 for Devin and 8 for Fox. I won't blame the 21 year old for it, it's on the coach.

Culprit #2: Fox. Mitch did him no favors early on, but when it was time to deliver he chucked us out of the game with terrible shot selection. Every shot was difficult. Got blocked once and started settling for bs fadeaways. It's an overreaction, but if he can't be the reliable second option we need him to be in these playoffs, what's the point of keeping him since Dylan with a fucked up thumb already looked like the better lead guard?

I won't take it against Castle even though his decision making would make Westbrook proud, but both Mitch and Fox need to be ashamed of themselves.
The plays Mitch drew up after time outs were pathetic, giving Castle the ultimate green light was even worse and Fox is apparently exactly what every non-Spurs fan thought he was.

Other than that, as I said some of the role players will get exposed and it happened. Keldon offers absolutely nothing in this series.

Kornet, Harper, CB and Devin are the only ones that deserve a passing grade for this game.

Losing like this is worse than getting outplayed, it means we weren't mentally ready and now the Blazers are in our heads.
And Wemby probably won't be back in Portland, meaning we could easily be looking at 1-3.

Annoying end of the game but I’m confident they’ll rally back after this. A lot of the series are at 1-1 right now…almost as if the NBA wants it that way.

Fox will take a lot of heat, but Castle was very very bad tonight. The guards overall were very disappointing.
Castle was very bad. But this is his first playoff run. We paid Fox for what? To basically be invisible while Kornet and Vassell play their asses off.
