Up 14 points in the 4th against a team with arguably the least firepower in the entire playoffs and you manage to choke it away int he most embarrassing fashion.
Wemby or not, doesn't matter, it's a team that we should be beating every single time.
Culprit #1: Mitch. How many possessions did we waste by just taking it back out and giving Castle the ball without any kind of run up, so he can cosplay as Westbrook? His statline is great considering how much he pounded the ball with no production.
At one point it was 16 FG for Castle, 10 for Devin and 8 for Fox. I won't blame the 21 year old for it, it's on the coach.
Culprit #2: Fox. Mitch did him no favors early on, but when it was time to deliver he chucked us out of the game with terrible shot selection. Every shot was difficult. Got blocked once and started settling for bs fadeaways. It's an overreaction, but if he can't be the reliable second option we need him to be in these playoffs, what's the point of keeping him since Dylan with a fucked up thumb already looked like the better lead guard?
I won't take it against Castle even though his decision making would make Westbrook proud, but both Mitch and Fox need to be ashamed of themselves.
The plays Mitch drew up after time outs were pathetic, giving Castle the ultimate green light was even worse and Fox is apparently exactly what every non-Spurs fan thought he was.
Other than that, as I said some of the role players will get exposed and it happened. Keldon offers absolutely nothing in this series.
Kornet, Harper, CB and Devin are the only ones that deserve a passing grade for this game.
Losing like this is worse than getting outplayed, it means we weren't mentally ready and now the Blazers are in our heads.
And Wemby probably won't be back in Portland, meaning we could easily be looking at 1-3.
