News Official 2025-2026 Buyout Thread

Demar might be the first player to get his jersey retired for all of his contributions after he left the team.

Just need him to get bought out and sign with the Lakers en route to a first round sweep to cap off a legendary post Spurs run tbh.

Is Khris Middleton like the 2013 Spurs signing TMAC version of this year's roster if they got him /s? Even waiving SJax just recently before like Sochan now lol.

Does he really have anything left in the tank? It's always these names like 5 seasons too late. Middleton was even a semi china doll back then. He would be perfect as a deep bench emergency option if he isn't washed up.
Washed or not, he's is unquestionably a better use of the 15th spot than BB now that we have Plumlee. BB is unquestionably washed and even if he wasn't we don't need a 5th Center.
We need someone with some potential to hit a 3, Middleton's a career .385% shooter, he'd be the best career shooter on the Spurs.
Hope he becomes available, hope we snag him, no risk to find out if there's anything left.

Welp, that's prolly it for the buyout market then. Hopefully Plumdog has something left in the tank.

Love derozan and his offensive game. Him and Aldridge etc get hate but they kept the spurs out of the perennial basement and smoothed the transition to wemby dynasty (pending injuries)

I don’t know why Huerter doesn’t get off the Pistons bench maybe he should ask for a buyout.

I imagine the Pistons view him as their Duncan Robinson insurance. But so long as DR is healthy, Huerter isn’t going to get big minutes (right or wrong)

He’s getting DNP’s they played Sasser ahead of him the other night I think they are content with keeping him from going to a competitor

Is Georges Niang a free agent? Is he under contract with anyone? Looks like he isn't. I'm guessing he's not healthy enough to play, though?

If not GN, I would still like a shooter to have deep on the bench.

When you look at it, Spurs already have a pure shooter at the end of their bench with Waters. 82.4% of his shots are threes and he is taking 10.1 threes per 36 minutes.

On the negative side, he has little playoffs experience and he is making 36.4% of his threes while shooting specialist are around 40%.

Spurs should have upgraded Waters' spot at the trade deadline, but since they haven't done it, sticking with him might not be that bad.

Not sure if it will align like some years but there have been times where a league like the NBL season (Australia) ends around the buyout deadline and players get signed to the NBA as well.

Pretty sure that's what TMac was, played internationally that yr, signed with the Spurs for the POs at the end of the foreign team's season.

damn. that's some good Murray insurance.

BDV, Cam Johnson, BB back, THJ (fwiw) and now Tyus jones. Nuggets needed some support brought in and they got some interesting names but you'd think they'd maybe fare a little better for all the help but I'd argue it's been somewhat lackluster even granting health context eg Joker

people have been reflexively calling Tyus Jones solid and competent for years now but he's now on his 6th team since 2022

It's less of a need for Denver as we know Nuggets run a lot of offense unorthodox through their center Jokic.

But Tyus Jones will at least be reassuring PG depth when Murray is an injury risk and the only thing behind him before this was BB Braun and Jalen Pickett or maybe KJ Simpson Jr. I trust Tyus way more than that during a playoff game if it's foul trouble or injuries but agree with you that it maybe says more about Pickett and alternatives than anything good about Jones lol.
