Game Thread Spurs (48-18) vs Hornets (34-33) (Sat 3/14/2026) [2:30PM CDT]

As long as wemby wins:
6rings( atleast 1 back to back),
5 league MVP,
6 finals MVP
4/5 DPOY
12 all nba 1st team
12 1st team all defense
He’ll beat jordan.

Also wemby is playing in a talented era while jordan played in weak/expansion era.
6 rings lol

😂

Come on, bro

Yes enough....but sad to say unlikely to happen.
Yeah most likely due to spurs load management. One thing wemby needs to acomplish is win a scoring title atleast once. But highly unlikely because he is playing for the spurs.

Michael Jordan will be leaving that house as the people who grew up watching him die off. Simple fact is that the GOAT debate has and always will be extremely fluid depending on the generation you're talking to.
I'm 42 years old so I would be classified as an elder Millennial. The Millennial generation that was born during the 80's grew up watching MJ and the 90's bulls. All those people are in their late 30's to early 40's. They will be around for at least another 30-40 years. Millennials are also the biggest generation in the US currently. Then you have Gen X who also watched all of MJ's career from start to finish and they will be around for another 20-30 years. The only people who are going to be dying off soon is the boomers but you have two generations in Gen X and Millennials that will be around for a while that got to watch MJ's championship years which will keep MJ in the GOAT debate for a very long time.

I am gen X, I don't have one goat but if I had to pick one it's MJ for me. Getting twice 3 rings in a row, with his scoring, defense, clutch game, hang time, Jordan brand, I am back story, etc, everything on one team. Plus his psychopathic drive to win. I am seeing some of this drive in Wemby and I love it.

Heh, when asked what is next Vic said "it's simple" he wants to win MVP and DPOY so he's keeping his body healthy (implying to meet the 65 game min)

:st-cry: but Spurs culture discourages personal accolades :st-cry:
I was just talking about this yesterday lol, it's crazy the stuff that gets thrown around. Spurs culture is winning, and that's perfectly compatible with earning winning-related trophies and accolades.

I'd rather he gets FMVP's than MVP's but......

I don't really have one complete goat because of how much the NBA has changed over each era.
This debate is so stupid. It's not called the "Best of All Time", it's the Greatest, and there's just no comparison to Jordan's image, cultural presence in and especially outside of basketball fans, global media reach, and lasting cultural impact.

I agree with the takes that modern Internet-based consumption make topping Jordan impossible, the same way Michael Jackson will likely be the King of Pop forever. Wemby could win 8 titles and still be far from topping Jordan's greatness and contributions to basketball, TBH.

You're right about one thing, though - young people are just so out of tune with the history of the sport, and well, history in general. It's no surprise the truth is fading with them. But whenever in the future actually cares to look at the debate, Jordan will continue to come out on top, because he's simply the Greatest player of all time. LeBron has amazing achievements to his name and yet he's still so far away from Jordan's cultural impact, it's laughable. Curry is arguably a better-known star, in his same timeline...

Carter Bryant. Did he always have a tattoo on his shoulder? And if so did he get a tattoo of several butterflies? I mean... that's cool and all but I need some more time to process this.

He got it before the Nuggets game. The butterflies are supposed to symbolize something with him and his two siblings fwiw

Ahh. Well, despite my sarcasm, I'll say he definitely doesn't play soft. He's another Spur created in a lab it feels like. But full of empathy unlike that robotic fake tree hugger, so to speak.

I'm 24. I can attest that most people my age do not consider Jordan the goat.

"Done with the 90's" is a real thing.
I totally get that it’s hard to judge players ya never really watched but would love to hear the argument for Lebron over Jordan from your standpoint (assuming he must be ur goat if not MJ)

I’ve never been convinced by any argument except longevity, which doesn’t matter much to me if ya did less with 20+ years than someone else did with 13 (+2 lol)

Yall wrong, tbh. Those of us who got the chance to see both live know MJ >>> Lebron by a pretty clear margin. And I'm not even one of those Lebron haters, in fact I rooted for him his entire career untill he got to LA.
