News Official 2025-2026 Buyout Thread

Demar potentially getting bought out is nuts... he's the gift that keeps on giving for us. First delivering an FRP later used to get Fox, then that juicy SAC swap. If he gets bought out and signs with the Lakers, I wonder if we get some kind of secret royalty payment :st-lol:

If Middleton isn't there (ie. isn't bought out or goes somewhere else), do you think we would bring back Demar as an "in case of emergency, break glass" scorer?

Do not want.

This team is finally getting back to its Beautiful Game roots. We know firsthand what DeMar is at this point, and he ain't that. I feel like he would be a square peg for a round hole.

Agree with Dex above. Also don't think Demar is looking to go somewhere for that type of role. He wants his touches.

So Middleton pretty much takes Bryant's spot in the rotation, right? I know the role would be different and probably greater, but have to think he'd be the odd man out.

That said, not sure if I like messing with the chemistry the guys have now.
That of Barnes insurance for the playoffs

Yeah, hard hard no to DeMar. Thanks for the memories, no thanks to new ones. With Butler done, I could see GSW picking him up to fill the scoring/touches void.

When demar was here he was very coachable. Had great relationship with Pop and surprised pop with his abilities to distribute the ball. After being on such a poor team, he may be ready to do anything to be on a contender

Is Khris Middleton like the 2013 Spurs signing TMAC version of this year's roster if they got him /s? Even waiving SJax just recently before like Sochan now lol.

Does he really have anything left in the tank? It's always these names like 5 seasons too late. Middleton was even a semi china doll back then. He would be perfect as a deep bench emergency option if he isn't washed up.

Bet Middleton is seeking a commitment after this year. Unfortunately might be hard.

If healthy I think he’d be great Playoff Barnes insurance and hope they pursue.

So with the Spurs signing, Plumles to a contract, that either means they're out of the running for a buyout or are willing to waive Biyomob/Waters/McLaughlin. To make it happen

depending on the $ that might not even be a bad thing. its not like we are short on roster spots at this point... pending free agents:

Barnes
McLaughlin
Waters
Olynyk
Plumlee
Biyombo

assuming Unc is brought back, we earmark one spot for our ATL first rounder... even if we did commit to Middleton, that leaves 3 spots in free agency. and we are operating above the cap with the MLE, so its not like we are going to go on a signing frenzy

Assume the Plumlee signing means Bismarck would be the odd man out.

Middleton would be a nice get tbh. I don't put too much stock in his numbers on a tanking team like the Wizards. The guy is a NBA champion and we all know those vets can always have a "turn back the clock" moment in the playoffs to swing a series. He just had a 25/7/7 game for the Mavs.

Logically he should replace Biyombo, but I doubt we'll waive Bismack cause he's too important for the locker room, so it'll probably be Olynyk. I'd rather have another wing than lunch lady.

Plumlee is basically the third rim protector as an injury insurance, because Biyombo is completely useless.

2 years ago in the playoff series against Indiana Middleton put up 25/9/5 in 38mpg. He's got something left in the tank if healthy. I'm all for adding wing insurance and a grizzled playoff vet to this team
