Player Harper injury update

Well… We feared it would be worse. Still sucks though. He'll be missed. Here's a general recovery timeline for calf strains:

Grade 1 (Mild):

  • Recovery time: 1-3 weeks
  • Symptoms: Mild pain, tenderness, and swelling
Grade 2 (Moderate):

  • Recovery time: 3-6 weeks
  • Symptoms: More severe pain, bruising, and limited range of motion
Grade 3 (Severe):

  • Recovery time: 6-12 weeks or longer
    • Symptoms: Complete muscle tear, significant pain, and inability to bear weight on the affected leg

I’m calling his return. Sunday Nov 30th T-Wolves. I’d probably take the over though.

I'm sure the Spurs will be conservative regardless especially with Fox (hopefully) returning soon. My guess is he'll return on Dec 2 at home vs Memphis

Could 've been way worse.. Really happy Dylan won't miss signficant time.. 2-3 weeks 8-10 games by the looks of it..

Good news that it wasn't more significant. My biggest concern though is that Harper might be injury-prone tbh, which would fucking suck obv. In just the past 2 years, Harper:

1. Missed a handful of games his Senior year of high school with a right knee injury that required knee surgery after the season.
2. Missed multiple games at Rutgers with an ankle injury.
3. Missed part of Summer League in July with a groin injury.
4. Missed the first 2 games of Preseason due to a procedure on his left thumb for a partially torn ligament.
5. Will now miss weeks after suffering a calf injury in his 6th NBA game while playing limited minutes at 19 years old…

Hope I'm wrong and he has a long and healthy career of course, but that's a lot of significant injuries for a teenager tbh.

No need to rush.

Silver linings? More on ball development for Castle, I suppose. Relieves pressure on the overall roatation to provide Sochan minutes when he returns.

better than i feared. i was thinking 2-3 months but "few weeks" seems like he should be back no later than December
Same. I was bracing for after ALL-Star break return timeline. Non-contact injuries are always bad news, so this falls under best case scenario in that category..

Best possible news, tbh.

I wonder if this changes whatever plans Mitch might have had for when Fox returns and he moves Castle to the bench instead of Champ or Dev.

New rotation idea:

G: 3-man rotation with Fox, Castle, Devin. Fox 35 min, Castle 31 min, Dev 30 min
SF: Champ - 24, Keldon - 24
PF: Barnes - 22, Sochan - 22, Korndog - 4
C: Wemby - 34, Korndog 18

Flex in some Lunch Lady minutes from time to time.

Mitch having to deal with a minutes crunch is postponed for now.

OK, darn, that's a lot better than I thought seeing it in the game. Happy it's not that bad. Was hoping it was nothing too serious. Hopefully he isn't out too long with it and is good to go when he comes back.

Edit : What was the knee injury he had in highschool, Batmanu20? Was it something minor?

Probably more McLaughlin unfortunately

I would hope Castle's starting spot is written in ink at this point. He was the only guy (outside of Harper) who sacked up in last nights game and he has been awesome this season overall.
