Personally I consider The Ringer's Top 100 list to be the best "ranking" list of them all, and they just did their pre-season update.

Wemb #6, Fox#28, Devin #86 but no sign of Steph.

Worth noting that in the last Trade Value rankings (Updated Jan 30), Wemby was #1, Fox #19, Steph #40, Devin #61.

There are some folks on this list who easily could have been Spurs, which chaps my hide, but other than that... We are a Roster with two Top 30 players, the reigning ROTY, another Top 100 player and the #2 overall pick.

Let's cook.

Prediction for the March update by the ringer
Wemby to 5
Fox to 26
Devin to 91
Steph 99

i dont blame them for leaving castle off. last we saw of castle he was promising, but pretty inefficient and the defense wasnt consistently there.

but if they have Caruso at 56, Dort at 68, and Cason Wallace at 92, Castle should be able to find a spot even if he's not handling the ball quite as much as last year. He just needs to shore up his consistency.

i think wemby's ranking is fair, and if he doesnt get himself into the top 5 by their next update, that would be on him

i could see vassell falling off the list based on what weve seen from him for a while now

Nice timing. I was actually going to create a post with multiple Top 100 rankings.

Steph is 91 on the Bleacher Report Top 100
Also 99 on the ESPN Top 100
Finally, 100 on the SI Top 100

I would've preferred if they made a tier list instead of #1-100, but I guess it's for engagement.

Wemby will prove he's better than Edwards.
Fox can easily get to top20, but current ranking is fair because he hasn't done much as of late.
Devin being #86 with no sight of Castle says all we need to know about their Spurs knowledge.

It's crazy how OKC has seven dudes on there.

iirc they do have tiers in their "trade value" rankings

I think that's a post you should still make! And then I can merge this one into that one.

I was about to get mad and say that Stephon is a better player than Devin, but actually, that's great Devin is listed higher. Hopefully other teams are looking closely at these lists.

Vassell is massively underrated. Someone should make a trade offer for him immediately.

if Devin and castle never progressed anymore beyond what we saw in April, most GM’s would take Devin.

FWIW.

Does anyone outside of this organization rate Devin Vassell? I still hear people mispronounce his last name all the time and he's been in the league for five years. Does he do anything special? The guy just exists. I guess he's good enough to be a top 100 player.

People don't really watch the Spurs and Devin's averages look good. 18/4/3.5 on 45/37/79 over the past 3 seasons looks great on paper.
Was projected to be a good defender when we drafted him, for some reason most NBA fans still think he's a solid defender.
On paper his contract looks like good value, but we know it's nowhere near what's actually going on.

People here are massively sleeping on my boy DV. Find me a better player who didn’t let the weight of expectations of being a good defender bog them down. You won’t. DV bucks trends and sets his own expectations. Still not buying it? Who else would you expect to call their own shot when you have a generational talent and more skilled players surrounding you? I mean, he could take the easy way out, play a defined offensive role and increase his attention on defense. But, as you’d expect, DV is too alpha for that.

If my movie has a cast filled with Daniel Day Lewis types, I definitely want Ray Romano taking lead.

Nesmith. 10 shots, 12-15 points. That’s what Devin is supposed to be, but that’s not going to happen.

that changed quickly after he humiliated the guy Luka was traded for...

I wonder what GM in the league would take Anthony Edwards over Wemby? Maybe someone convinced that Wemby's body type can't hold up over the next decade? No question Ant is talented but I'd be so nervous having him as my centerpiece. When he first came into the league, I found his sense of humor and loose personality kind of charming, but now he's got 4 kids from 4 different women, and says some things in interviews that just make me think he doesn't pay much attention to the details of preparation. The other night against the Lakers, a video went viral where he was asking "who's #12? Who is that guy??" It was Jake LaRavia, who was having a really good night against Minny while Ant sat with a hamstring injury. I can forgive a casual fan for not knowing LaRavia, but Ant not knowing who he is tells me he's not exactly a serious student of scouting reports or a guy that pays attention to his opponents' tendencies. Hard to say for sure, but that might also be the reason his impact stats don't quite match his raw stats.

I can't imagine any GM or exec would. Ant is a great scorer and a solid secondary creator/defender/positional rebounder and solid a getting to the line.
He hasn't hit his prime yet and maybe he makes huge strides as a creator or defender or keeps shooting like Curry, but that doesn't look likely.

Vic may well be better scorer today and has a much much higher ceiling across the board. Obvi the best defender today and very possibly the best since the merger/ever. Easy to reach ceiling as the best rebounder in the league. Vic has a higher career Ast% than Ant, higher Stl%, higher FTR. He may already be better across the board Offensively if the TO% this yr is the real Vic. And he's 2.5yrs younger.

Ant is a superstar, but I think he's more a 2nd tier SS than in the Joker/Giannis/SGA/Luka/Wemby (Curry/LeBron/Timmy/Kobe etc) tier. Those guys all have at least 1 other truly great skillset besides scoring: creation, rebounding, D, getting to the line, and/or are simply unstoppable offensively/unblockable (Kobe, Dirk, Durant, Curry) with better secondary attributes than Ant. Those tier one guys are always either the primary creator, the absolute D anchor, or have an unguardable shot.

If Ant is gonna take a jump as a creator it needs to happen this yr, cuz that team doesn't have a PG. Right now, Ant creates like he did when he was a rookie, he's lifted his scoring and shooting but not his team's. MVP guys pick up their play to fill gaps in the roster AND LIFT OTHERS UP, not sure Ant can do that and I don't think he has the tenacity/mentality to play at an All-D level or to get to the line at an insane level.
Ant should get better as he enters his prime but besides his gravity I'm not confident his play style will lift his teammates the way Joker/Giannis/SGA/Luka/Wemby clearly do.

The bottom line is that he doesn’t seem to take shit seriously. I remember a game early in his career against us. He went down and dunked, and flexed to the corner crowd at home. Tre Jones urgently called for the ball on the inbounds, and led a 5 on 4 that led to an easy score. He’s a serious talent, but not a serious player.

Ant is at the top of tier 2 with curry and Tatum. His abilities and being a winning player are flat out elite traits.

It doesn’t seem to matter that he’s incredibly arrogant and immature. He produces and his team wins. Knocking up a series of honey traps isn’t really that interesting either tbh.

But he’s tier 2 and Vic is tier 1 so it’s still nuts to take ant
