Honestly we just need Porzingis to keep missing games. I wish him good health of course, but him not playing has been huge for their losing streak. Aside from the fact that he gives them another plus shooter, they have little-to-no rim protection without him. Okongwu's a decent defender, but he isn't really a shot-blocker.
 
Turned on the the Clippers game in hopes they'd beat the Blazers tonight and they're immediately down 14-3 to start the game lol. They're so ass man. They might be the worst defensive team in the league this season. OKC getting a top-4 pick would be really annoying tbh.

Western teams can also jump them in lotto position, as Memphis appears poised to in a few minutes.
 
I wonder how active Atlanta will be in the trade market. They have to move on from Trae. While not perfect, Trae for LaMelo might help both teams

I feel it will be a wash. LaMelo is indisciplined and a net negative too. A more viable path would be to land Giannis by giving up Trae and the Pelicans pick/Bucks' own picks. But I hope that doesn't happen.

LaMelo for Trae where the Hawks still suck would be great for the Spurs. I dont see the Hawks pulling the plug on a LaMelo experiment this season even if they dont improve at all.
 
Atlanta is a Jalen Johnson injury away from free falling, I don't wish him anything serious, but... maybe he could tweak his ankle? calf strain with a long, cautionary absence? :st-devil:
 
So why are they calling Jayden Quaintance a power-forward? Dude seems to be an old-school center. The fact that he shows no perimeter skills at all is very concerning. In theory, the Spurs would really benefit from finding a solid defensive center prospect with the Hawks pick. Shame that there doesn't seem to be a good option in the mocks at the moment. Feels like this might be a pick the Spurs end up not keeping, especially if they don't win the title this summer.

I understand that contending teams don't always use their picks, but if the Spurs get a good pick in a deep draft and they pass on it, they better get a REALLY good deal. Otherwise they should just take a player that could at least be in the rotation in the rookie or sophomore years at the latest (Lendeborg?), but they're not so good that they can't make room for a talented player if they think there is one available when they pick.

As we'd say in Spanish, that is going from "Guatemala" to "Guatepeor". My hope is that they consider the pick a sunk cost and don't go for a costly short term fix that will ultimately hurt both them and us (say, Jalen Johnson, Risacher and the Pelicans pick for Giannis), but I assume they're going to do something because the PR backslash of giving up a high pick would be bad.

I don't necessarily agree, because lotto picks have decent salaries. I admit to not knowing a bunch about this draft (I usually don't know anything until around March), but it doesn't "feel" like a deep class, especially not in terms of lotto talent. There are a lot of different ways to trade the pick. They could move down in the draft, like Atlanta did last year. Or they could move out like they did in 2024. Or they could trade the pick for a player ala Houston trading for Durant. I don't know what type of trade would make the most sense, if any. But it feels like next year will be the moment for the Spurs to make the turn into fully contending. They might sneak in this year, but in order to be best set up to contend for the near future, they could really use their version of Aaron Gordon

Damn Clippers really came back and won that comfortably. They must've locked in defensively. Good shit. Nephew with 28/8/6.
