I remember those Hawks "Top 4 in East", "could pull off a Pacers-like run" takes in the offseason by some respectable experts like Zach Lowe.. After the Cavs, they have certainly been the second most disappointing team in the East. Looking primed for another play-in battle..

Really hope they don't make Giannis or AD trade, Spurs might be getting a nice pick swap after all (27 for 14 currently on tankathon). Even something like 24 for 16 is nothing to sneeze at.

We have held our end of bargain having swept Atlanta in two consecutive seasons and we are off to great start in the swap year, i just need the Hawks to stop lucking out in clutch games against superior East teams like @Exstatic often says :st-lol:
KP started the season hot and Trae has missed most of their games. Now KPs illness has come back. Dyson Daniels has regressed badly.

What is the illness KP has? I remember last season they weren't sure what was going on? Did they figure it out?

Sucks if it's something they can't fix or figure out what is going on with him. I was sort of hoping the Spurs might try and get him as a free agent next season if he becomes one, but that doesn't matter. I hope for his sake he's alright and can continue playing basketball at the highest level.

This thing called POTS apparently.

Alright, thanks. That's terrible. You can't play basketball with that condition. I hope they can figure out a way to get it under control so he can keep playing.

There seems to be some relationship to height with POTS, which makes sense given how the body has to get blood circulating up and down such a big body. Indications of links to covid, too.

I agree that missing Trae is sort of a blessing. They definitely looked toothless last night. Maybe tired, I guess.

Generally their length and defense is pretty solid, but was pretty ineffective last night. I haven't watched enough to know, but I assume the blitzing guard attack by the Spurs was hard to handle, and then Wemby came on off the bench...

One problem with going without your stars is that other players can keep it up only so long, and maybe (hopefully) it's starting to wear on them. As you say, though, Trae creates problems for them with his defense.

I figure they'll hang on. Bad for them that Porzingis's health looks super problematic. Daniels has regressed some. Fortunately Johnson has been astoundingly good. They have a juicy NOP pick coming, but maybe the Pelicans continue to turn it around...
The health flags on Tingus were known, and they pulled the trigger on the trade anyways. He missed time in Boston last year with this. It’s sometimes a result of long covid. What I’ve read about it is there’s really no specified treatment. It could linger for years, or be gone tomorrow.

^^ Det Pelicans pick is going to progressively lose value as NOLA is getting healthy, gelling and their youngsters developing as the season goes along (4 straight Wins with Mavs coming at home). That and the fact they'll eventually get out-tanked of Top 4 odds (maybe even Top 6 if you add two of Nets/Hornets/Jazz)

Hawks might seriously consider moving it for Giannis now if he is open to get there. I certainly hope not.

PS: I think I f'd up my left click mouse button.

It's fucking wild seeing those draft picks for the Clippers and Jazz and where they're headed to. I guess I haven't been paying attention lol

Jazz is top8 protected, Ainge will make sure they keep it.

Probably the stretch that will decide the Hawks season leading to trade deadline. I only see 2-3 gimme games here. It could get rough and they decide to swing a trade for Giannis or AD; i sure hope not for the second part.

5 game losing streak after Christmas would be a great way to kick off the new year.
