Make no mistake, Carter Bryant was sill an upside bet, his tools are crazy impressive but there's a wide range of possible outcomes. I'm saying from now on they should try to go for higher floor even if lower ceiling, a baseline of skills that make it harder to flame out, and hope they still exceed expectations.Well, we took Bryant who's best case projection is a high-end 3-D wing with no self-creation.
All I want from the next draft is an athletic rim protector that could take over as Kornet's backup within a few years. Should be doable.
As for the center, you had Kalkbrenner in the 2nd round for that, Spurs own pick plus one or two more would have easily gotten that, and it was so easy to see that even a guy from Argentina who gets to watch the odd College game through shady sites was able to see that, yet the Spurs with their enormous resources couldn't.
Their scouting department needs a full revamp TBH, identify the best people from Memphis and OKC and offer them a promotion with 3x the salary, it'll pay itself out within a year.
