it's gonna be weird to watch a lottery where i'm not surrounded by candles. talismans and various sorts of charms from all over the world.
Maybe switch for vodoo dolls to keep OKC, Dallas and Atlanta from moving up.

^ Magic win tonight is pretty much our last hope of the Hawks falling back into the play in bracket.

Wouldnt hold my breath though as ORL is on a b2b and Franz will be rusty. Hawks are currently -2.5 for tonight's game.

Forget about Atlanta missing the playoffs, we just have to root for Toronto, Philly and Phoenix to win so that they go from 20 to 17

Toronto is down by 5 to Sacramento at halftime. They're being eaten alive on the boards: 14 offensive rebounds for Sacramento (9 by Achiuwa).

Sacramento, putrid clueless franchise can't even figure out when to lose and decide to play their top guys until the last second vs Toronto. Hope Utah passes you and you pick 9 or something.

looks like the Hawks will be picking 20th they are firmly in control of the 5th spot right its theirs to lose. Toronto dropped to 7th and the Sixers are now in the 6th spot

they're one loss from Toronto, Philadelphia and Phoenix though, it just happen that everything is breaking Atlanta's way, but technically they can at least tie their record so the pick would end up decided by a tiebreaker.

pick.webp

Atlanta legit looks like a good team. They have size and switchable parts and playmaking and shooting and great coaching. If they run it back healthy next year they are a top 4 team in the east.

Complete and utter collapse of 5-10 East teams outside Atlanta post ASB. .Kudos to Hawks for seizing on the opportunity after making some sneaky good moves at the deadline while getting extremely lucky with variables like health and schedule.

Spurs can't do anything when Raptors, Philly, Miami, and Orlando all decide to shit bed and spiral down the stretch of the season. It's what it is. Can't have everything in a year when you're a 60-win contender.

Yes, but I expect us to trade out of that spot unless someone we really like falls to us

Honestly, good for the Hawks tbh. I like when mid/bottom feeders (especially in the East) get better and challenge the old guard. Just wish they didnt' trade Trae until this summer tbh.

Wow. Yep, Atlanta is looking real legit. Didn't know they were that legit with those ratings. What a turnaround with those trades. IMO, slightly even more impressive that Boston's turnaround how they've been able to salvage this season. Boston still had Brown and D White to start the season and now Tatum is back.

I did say we should have looked at trading those picks if a good deal came along, but I didn't have the guts to go all-in on that. Darn. I wonder if the Spurs could have gotten something good if they tried trading the picks before the season or up to the trade deadline.

Very impressive, going into the AS break they were the most disappointing team in the East, 4 games under .500, battling with Chi, Mil, Cha for the 10th spot.
Fast forward 6 weeks, 18-3, 9 games over, and a good chance to get the 47 wins projected preseason.

Saleh should get Exec of the Year. Got NAW on one of the best deals in the league for a late 2nd, traded scraps for KP and flipped him into Kuminga, signed Kennard and flipped him for a 2nd when he became redunant, bought Landale for the change they got for Kobe Bufkin, and avoided extending Trae and turned him into 2 rotation players eating 48 minutes and putting up 28 points a night in a addition by subtraction move that more than filled Trae's minutes and points. And got the best of NOLA/Bucks 1st + Newell for Queen. That is a hell of a yr.

And they'll go into the offseason with that NOLA/MIL pick, the Spurs pick, and Indy's 33rd pick, and with cap space, Kuminga fully non-guaranteed and I think they have the bird rights for McCollum. 4 starters + Zac locked-in on good deals, 2 more rotations guys on decent contract, control over everyone but Landale. They have so much flexibility with Jalen and Kuminga the only contracts over $16.1M, lots of trade capital/all their picks, and over a 30% chance at a top 3, almost 45% chance at top 4. They have made some quality lemonade.

Yup. We can bitch about TOR and PHI not winning enough games all we want but in reality the Hawks just kept winning almost every single game they play which made it near impossible for the other teams to stay ahead of them in the standings.

Hawks have a good shot of upsetting the Cavs in the First Round imo, assuming the Knicks don't choke and let the Hawks surpass them in the standings in these next 5 games. Two of ATL's final 5 games are against CLE though so we should get a good look at them before the Playoffs start.

If the Knicks do fall to the 4th Seed in the next 5 games, a Hawks-Knicks First Round matchup would be really interesting, especially with the Knicks struggling against good teams as of late. Would be hilarious if they sent the Knicks home in the First Round tbh :st-lol:. Knicks play @ ATL on Monday.
