The Magic are terrible, they need to be cleaning house this summer.

Trade Banchero and Suggs and try try build around Black/Bane/Wagner.

If they didn't blow their load on Bane, they probably could have made a compelling offer to the Bucks for Giannis centered around Banchero tbh.

Orlando finishing 10th will (and should) get a lot of people fired and might lead to an interesting offseason with some trades involving their guys
Yet another example that overpays rarely work, to justify the ridiculous price tag FOs keep doing mental gymnastics where everything breaks just right but reality rarely works like that.

Kings @ Magic and Knicks @ Hornets going on right now. magic up in a close one, but hornets winning big in the 3rd.

Embiid and PG came back for Philly yesterday and both played well. really just a matter of ATL finding losses along the way... and for what its worth ATL's schedule for their last 9 games is one of the tougher ones in the league (3rd on crafted, 6th with traditional strength of schedule model). they have:

they have 2 cupcakes left against Sacto and Brooklyn, but otherwise play the Heat, Magic, Knicks, Cavsx2 and Celticsx2

and then in the West, Phoenix is 40-33 as well, so thats another team that could potentially climb past ATL
At this point we just have to hope they don't qualify for the playoffs outright. If Toronto doesn't snap out of it we can kiss the lottery hopes goodbye.

Mosley will be the fall guy, but their core is never healthy. They also overestimated them though, thinking the collective play making of a bunch of secondary creators would add up to one lead one and that their shooting would become competent, neither of which has happened.

They can still make a compelling offer of Banchero, Black, Bitadze and multiple 1sts/swaps for Antetokounmpo and one of Prince, Harris, Trent (so long as at least one picks up their player option).

No way should Orlando go for Greek freak. Actually no rebuilding team should. Just sell some of the players for picks and rebuild around the younger ones.

On the Giannis topic, a lowkey reason to be happy about the Spurs' success this season is that it's taken them out of any of these whack Trade-A-Palooza for over the hill stars like Houston went for with KD. There were a lot of proposals floating around at the deadline of Castle + picks (or even Castle + Harper + picks :st-lmao:) for Giannis, and it's a real blessing that the core seems to have played themselves into untradeable pieces.

With KD possibly a FA after the season ends, it's gonna be interesting to see what happens with these fading stars. Both Houston and the Bucks should be desperate to sell and recoup value/assets.

Good point. But it seemed like Castle+Harper were already untouchable to begin with. I think they were floating Vassell as the most valuable asset they'd trade.

Hawks @ Celtics
Heat
@ Cavaliers
Pelicans @ Raptors

Raptors over Pels in the rooting guide for the 2026 swap... but if you're looking ahead to the 2027 ATL pick, you might want the Pels to win this one.

Right now the Pelicans are in the 8th seed, but only two wins ahead of DAL in the 6th seed.

Should NOP somehow drop to the 6 seed, and MIL stayed at #9, ATL would have right around a 50% shot of landing a top 4 pick.

We need MIL to finished ahead of CHI and NOP to get a little distance on DAL and MEM... #8 and #10 would be more like a 35% chance at a Top 4.

That is, if you care about the 27 pick or think a Top 4 might really make ATL a lot better next year.

bird in the hand

I think NO's realistic outcomes are 8/9 in some order, as Dallas and Memphis at 6 and 7 are trying to lose, and Chicago at 10 is likely out of reach. So it's much more important for Toronto to win as it's the only way for Atlanta to slip out of the top 6, otherwise it's straight to the playoffs. And even then, if Toronto surpasses them pick improves 1 spot even if it's outside the lottery. Also, luck will determine where Atlanta lands next year whether NO lands at 6 or 8, no point fretting over it. Not a tough call for me.

Amateur GM scott is already planning on trading this year's pick to LAC or NOP (both without FRP this year) for some 20131's, so I personally don't care where it lands :st-lol:
If lottery odds are flattened as per some of the proposals floated around, and with the expansion draft on the horizon, it wouldn't be a bad idea to stockpile swaps in the next few years, especially 27-29

ATL brass has done a terrific job of transforming a listless Trae Young lead team into one that's been hard for a lot of teams to handle. Plus they'll get a juicy pick this summer...
