Yeah. they're going to have to decide do we pay our cheap draft picks or do we trade one or more of our current players for picks in 2045. Tough choice.
the picks are going to help them move on from role players that get overpriced. sucks for them that Sorber got hurt because im sure if he had a solid rookie year they would have comfortably moved on from Hartenstein, for instance

we'll see if they pick up Dort's club option

they may also move Caruso. he's very good, but cason wallace does many of the same things and is a lot cheaper next year, plus they have good backcourt depth with McCain, Mitchell

Feels like OKC won't be able to pay all these guys here soon. Ridiculous amount of picks though, I agree. Presti punked a lot of other GMs.
They will definitely have to start shedding pieces, but they keep making moves to cover those loses.

Gametheory made the point that Dort + Joe make $29.5M, Hartenstein makes 28.5M. Picking up AJ and McCain for spare change makes it really easy to let those getting expensive guards go and keep Hart for another yr or two. Then they have Sorber in the wings to cover him, and Topic waiting to get a chance + all of the picks left.

Presti just keeps trucking. Super happy we drafted Nunez cuz no one at 36 would take a two-way so that the Thunder could trade Lindy Waters and cash (via Quinton Post and Oso Ighodaro in 3 separate trades) to get AJ at 38 and sign him to a fucking two-way. We fucked that draft badly, I think largely bc the glut of projects and sunk costs we had roster (Bran, Blake, Jeremy, Sidy to name a few). Thank god we landed at 4 and were forced into taking the best player in the draft.
We sell 2nds for cash and OKC uses 2nds + cash to fill out the rotation.

Hopefully we learned our lesson and start using 2nds for guys that have a non-zero chance to be rotation players, unlike Nunez and Ingram.

That NC mock released today has OKC taking Aday Mara with one of their FRP's and honestly that makes a lot of sense for them if they lose iHart via free agency.

They need those players to become good. Presti is a talented drafter, but he has tons of misses.

Doubt Dort is with them next season tbh. The added drama with the flagrant stuff probably doesn't help.

The more he swings the worst he does, hence all the failed first rounders. But in the second round he goes for guys who know how to play and has a ridiculous hit rate. Spurs should emulate that.

Right now the East is:
6) Miami +8
7) Orlando +7
8) Philadelphia +5
9) Atlanta +2
10) Charlotte 0
11) Milwaukee -10
with 16-69 games remaining play-in is guaranteed, I think Orlando and Miami are safe but we just have to hope Philly miraculously holds them back at 9, or Charlotte surpasses them so that they have to win 2 games to get into the playoffs. I like the chances of the latter better.

with the hawks on a win streak and philly in free-fall, have to start looking at teams just above ATL in the standings, too

Raptors @ Pelicans
Cavs @ Magic
Hornets
@ Kings
Wolves @ Clippers

Scrub watching is depressing af when we’ve been doing that for years before last

Pretty crazy how Dejounte has changed that Pelicans team since his return. Thank you for fucking up Atlanta again!

Atl on the verge of passing philly and toronto....Good chance they can be top 6 in the east.wow the east is so damn bad.

Be nice if Hawks could go on 4-5 game losing streak.

On the bright side, NOP is out there fighting. I wonder if they can't make a push to get themselves as high as 10th worst, though it won't matter if they are above or below MIL in the end, ATL will get the best of either.

Still going to be a great swap year no matter how it shakes out. Some really interesting prospects in the Hawks swap range in a great draft. I feel pretty good about their trade down opportunities as well with a pick in the teens.

I don't think Nosferatu was gonna gift us another Top 4 pick tbh :st-lol:

yeah moving up 10+ spots is a big win for a swap. we've seen many times where swaps arent exercised at all, and based on preseason over/under stuff, it wasnt projected to be exercised at all

I think Yaxel becomes more likely the further our pick falls
Yaxel's been one of my guy's since November and he'd make a lot of sense given he'd fill a positional need for us, but I just don't see MATFO drafting a guy who will be 24 when next season starts tbh. Will be happy to eat crow if I'm wrong, but I don't see it.
