Friday Jan 23 Rooting Guide:

Rockets @ Pistons
Suns
@ Hawks
Pelicans @ Grizzlies
Nuggets @ Bucks (this one is a two-fer... go Bucks!)

I can definitely see a pathway for ATL to jump up to the #8 lotto position in the coming weeks
crossing fingers, going from 7% chance to get a top4 to 26%, that's a massive difference. 5 teams have already decided to tank Pacers, Wizards, Nets, Kings, Jazz and for whatever reason the Pels are absolutely atrocious. So the 7th pick is the highest we could get but I'm pretty sure that at some point, the Hornets, Grizzlies will join the tanking group

Dallas is confusing me. This is their last controlled pick until 20131, I think, yet they’re not hard tanking, 7-3 in their last 10.

they were winning games with flagg and davis out. not sure how else they can try to tank. the players arent cooperating

as a reminder, players are never the ones who tank (unless they are in a gambling scheme)

everyone knew the pels would be absolutely atrocious which is why the draft day trade they made was ridiculous, even if queen ends up quite good (and he looks good)

and i dont really think any of those teams are tanking... they're just really bad. its not like the kings are resting stars and playing scrubs in their place. derozan, lavine, westbrook are still getting heavy minutes. the nets/wizards frankly just dont have good players. the pacers are worse than people thought, but its not like Siakam is taking random nights off very often.

the jazz though... they are being awfully careful with injures. they may start having nurkic be "sore" for some stretches coming up

They’re regularly sitting Lauri, and doing things like having Nurkicguard Wemby. Defensive lapses are the best way to tank.

Yep, pre-lottery #7 is where hope peaks.

And, not for nothing, all the top teams are kind of in a malaise right now.

The Blazers have the best record in January (9-2)... just been a weird stretch after Christmas

Could be Kidd, giving them the middle finger for not letting him leave after that godawful trade.

Why do we want the Grizz to beat the Pels?

We want them to have a better record than the Hawks for lottery purposes.
Might be better for the Spurs if the Pels win since they might not come into SA as motivated to get a win. They've been losing a lot of close games lately tbh.

Duncan Robinson putting up the complete Harrison Barnes performance tonight. 1-6 from 3.
