MEM misses 3 of 4 FTs down the stretch and ATL wins by 2.

Played his first year in the gleague when drafted by the hawks few years ago...But some guys on here say it wont help carter bryant any.
Are they, really? Or is it more like "Bryant can develop his role-playing skills on the Spurs squad instead of playing a role in the G-L that he'll never play in the NBA"?

I've seen the latter but never the former, and given Keldon spent a year in Austin and is now core to the group, it'd be a surprising argument.

Don’t you want more than a role player? Because if he just plays NBA spot minutes, that’s all he’ll ever be.

Honestly, fuck no :st-lol:

It's disingenuous to believe that every player can, or will, "be more" if they're just given a bigger platform and role. I haven't seen anything from Carter that made me think I'd like for him to handle the ball more, or drive (or dunk) more, or...... Etc. IF this was a Lonnie Walker - the extreme talent but no game - type, then sure, take the gambit and see if he puts it together after a year or so of being "the man".

Here though, having CB be the main guy of the Toros seems as futile as the Sochan PG experiment, tbh. I gotta go with "fuck no", and want him to maximize every bit of his 3 and D capabilities. That's a much better player for the Spurs.

Carter Bryant, why can't it be both? Plan in advance for say two games/month in Austin scheduled around home stands. Seems to me a better approach than the "struggle and react" approach.

Bryant can go to the GLeague and still play the same role he’s played with the main team, especially with DJG over there handling the ball. He doesn’t have to be the man over there. And he hasn’t been when he did play with them. So I’m not sure where this is coming from…

CB with Austin having heavy minutes and honing his 3 pt shooting is what should be happening. For some reason, it’s not.

He'll go back when Vassell returns.

Fox/Castle/Harper/Barnes/Keldon/Champagnie, we can't be left with just 6 man perimeter rotation.
Unless you want Olynyk/Sochan/Waters playing regular minutes.

He played like 20 minutes per game in one year of college. Of course he looks like nothing. Kawhi couldn’t even dribble when he got to SA. Sat in the corner for the better part of two seasons. He was All D from the go, which is why he stayed with the big club. He was also the only dev project back then. Spurs are currently developing Castle and Harper.

It’s not about him being some main guy in Austin, it’s about teaching him fundamentals. He needs to learn to set a screen, use a screen, develop a rocker step, learn the triple threat position. These are things he would never have been taught in AAU, or in 20 minutes at UA.

CB needs lots reps and to get comfortable playing basketball. Then he can fit into a proper role. A combination of time in Austin and with the big Spurs would serve him well.

Whoa, lol, Dallas. What a freaking terrible trade that's just getting worse by the minute. The return is likely going to be worse if they're forced to trade him. I would have thought Dallas would keep him and let him play to start next season to see how it looks, and then if they still wanted to trade him, I thought they'd want to do it when teams can see him healthier and in-form to try and maximize their return as best as they can.

Who’s desperate enough to trade for AD? My bet is on GSW, Lakers, or Clippers.

I think you've picked three teams there that definitely would if they can get him for not too much. Warriors would really be enticing for future first round draft picks once Curry has retired.

Man, surely they wouldn't trade him back to the Lakers? That'd make them look so bad. I'd assume there is no way they'd get Reaves from the Lakers, and short of that, they'd be a laughing stock if they trade him back there. I'd also imagine Ayton will crumble (he was making some progress there this season) and his game will go down the shitter if AD goes back there.

I forgot that Klutch also doesn’t hold much sway anymore (per the espn article), so the lakers might be even more of a stretch

People are saying the Knicks want to trade KAT for him. They think they will win a title with AD sitting on the sidelines in street clothes during the playoffs

Friday Jan 23 Rooting Guide:

Rockets @ Pistons
Suns
@ Hawks
Pelicans @ Grizzlies
Nuggets @ Bucks (this one is a two-fer... go Bucks!)

I can definitely see a pathway for ATL to jump up to the #8 lotto position in the coming weeks
