Rank these oversized ball-handling fowards with excellent passing and average shooting both now and moving forward:

Jalen Johnson
Scottie Barnes
Franz Wagner
Deni Avdija
I will rate this -
1. Johnson, 2. Wagner, 3. Avdija and 4. Barnes.

While Avdija has been performing at an All Star level, his defense is still bad. Wagner is the most versatile over a long term but Johnson has been most amazing in the short term. Barnes hasn't really shown any major improvement but is very steady.

Good thing we took Primo ahead of him
Wow, was that his draft year? :( The kid looks amazing. Where in the h*ll is Primo now? Long forgotten. Did Primo still get paid from the Spurs after he was released?

Interesting what the Hawks will do as Trae being out is allowing Jalen to show what he can really do. He showed it last season and is doing the same this season with Trae out. The Hawks are now able to see it's not a fluke.

If you told me JJ was gonna average 70 games a year he'd be first, but realistically he won't tbh.

At least he had a memorable moment in his Rookie season tbh.

never gets old

Avdija's defense sucks bigtime. Johnson is clearly the best out of the bunch right now.

You know things are bad for Josh Primo when the just have to use a generic pic for him

Are the Mavs still looking to trade him? I thought they've had some good games with AD and Cooper since he's come back. Didn't they beat the Nuggets on the road?

Hawks interested in trading for AD. They'd have to give up Trae or multiple major pieces to match salaries though.
Trae for AD is one of the few max contract trades that makes sense.

Other than that, something like Porzingis+Kennard and one of Daniels or Risacher works.

The article i read said Atlanta wanted to keep Trae in a Davis trade... I think if they work a deal around Porzingis he'll want a buyout from Dallas.

The Mavs doing a two-step trade of Luka for Trae to undo their 2018 draft night heist would be incredibly funny.

Well, I'd much rather see that happen as I doubt Dallas would want to keep Porzingis and/or if Porzingis would want to stay there. I wonder if the Spurs would have a real chance of signing him for the rest of the season if he get s a buyout in that trade scenario.

It would be quite funny to see Trae go to Dallas for multiple reasons, though, as Seventyniner mentioned, it reverses the draft day trade, but it'd also make it super weird that the Mavs got rid of Luka for being out of shape, missing games and not playing defense. Trae is also a terrible defender and misses games. I seriously doubt Dallas would want him. If they do get him, they'll look like fools. Would Trae and Kyrie even work?

After watching Queen last night the Pels just had to make the pick top 5 protected and they could forever justify the trade. Theoretically I wouldn't trade Queen for the 6th overall pick in this draft.

Bucks won't entertain any offer that doesn't include that team's best young players.
What are they going to do with 27 year old Trae on an expiring contract?

Those picks make it interesting, but I doubt Giannis would want to go to Atlanta.
A 40% shot at a top 3 pick in this ridiculously top heavy draft is probably the best asset they can reasonably get in a Giannis trade. I don't see Houston offering Sengun and god I hope the Spurs aren't offering Harper.

Yeah, that would have worked much better for them. Do Atlanta still take the deal, though? Maybe the pick would have to have been top 2 or 3 protected. I wonder if the Hawks had anyone left on the board that they really wanted at that point? They just couldn't turn down that offer, though.

Pels included the Indy pick at 23. A top five protected pick for a 10 pick move down is still fantastic value. Joe Dumars is insane. If he liked Queen that much take him at 9 or move down a few picks and then take Queen. So many other very reasonable options.

I wonder if ATL would be thinking something like Tingus + filler + NOP pick for AD?

I think that would be a gross overpay for AD personally... but who knows with these GMs. I don't want DAL adding two Top 10 picks to Flagg next year... but that is what they should do, since they won't own their own draft after that.

no way they trading that pick unless for giannis. They gonna trade the other first round they got this draft after the swap

Also, setting aside what people think of GM ability, this goes to show the respective quality of draft classes in 2024 v 2025.

In 2024, the #8 pick could only fetch you a swap in 2030 and an unprotected FRP in 2031 from a team that was in the WCF (and went back there the next year)

In 2025, the #13 pick got you the #23 pick and an unprotected pick a year later from one of the worst teams in the league

Yes there is the Dumars effect at play here... and arguably questions of whether Brian maximized the value of that #8 pick... but in any event, it shows how weak that 2024 class was.
