tl;dr: french guy writes extensive essay on why french people are morally superior
tbh... per par...tl;dr: french guy writes extensive essay on why french people are morally superior
tbh... per par...Didn't include the most blatant one IMO that being Cunninghams frustration foul when Wemby was simply running upcourt in transition.I know this is good prep for the playoffs, but how are some these blatant shoves not called fouls ?![]()
He's already got that though - people don't take it into account because it didn't happen in the NBA playoffs. But his loss with France last year is absolutely the kind of heartbreak people point towards as a turning point for players.while he is clearly still not refined offensively, his gargantuan talent is simply overwhelming. bottom line is, he's ready. needs a couple of playoff series' under his belt, a disappointing loss that he can reflect on... but the rest? he's good enough.
I think Monica McNutt & Kendrick Perkins are sold, however Stephen A. will never root for anyone that isn't American. As for me, I believe SGA is the clear favorite rn, but of course he, along with Jokic & Victor, are close to the 65 game threshold so realistically it's all on the table rn. On availability alone Cade could win it.If the ESPN types embrace Wemby as the face of the NBA, along with a feeling that he should have have won DPOY once or twice already, and that the Spurs are an exciting success story...then I can easily talk myself into Wemby as MVP.
Now if the reporters have some nativist prejudice I suppose Cade would be a possibility.
I still think the Joker is the MVP, but I also think if the Spurs/Wemby finish strong then he'll win it. Or at least we'll have the tradition where people will say he was robbed and how could the voters screw this up etc.
Anyway. Just rambling...
no i mean in the playoffs. its a different feeling when you lose to the same squad 4 times and arent able to figure them outHe's already got that though - people don't take it into account because it didn't happen in the NBA playoffs. Maybe the team, collectively, needs to experience that to jump into a "next level", but idk about Wemby in particular
How many games were the French playoffs at? Best of 5, or 7? Anyway, this team (Victor specially) has some hidden "do or die" experiences on their resume, tbh.no i mean in the playoffs. its a different feeling when you lose to the same squad 4 times and arent able to figure them out
i was responding to the comment which mentioned the olympics. but yeah he had playoff series in france, but i dont think that stacks to NBA at all tbhHow many games were the French playoffs at? Corliss Williamson was pretty chill about Detroit's aggressive tactics, especially after the game. Think his attitude is rubbing off on the team, my take of it would be something like: "Don't let it get in your head. Their posturing is not about you. It's about their own fear, dissatisfaction, and confusion that they're not getting to you."Detroit and these shady refs tonight just made the whoopin Wemby and the Spurs are gonna put on them in about 10 days 10x worse. You can't unsee it at this point, some memo, some super secret text chain has this Charmin Soft era suddenly being allowed to do the bullshit the Pistons and refs did to Wemby tonight. Play football five on 1 on defense. Except it was more obvious when that mandate extended to the rest of the Spurs. Luckily, no NBA player is good at playing football for 48 minutes and an elite level.
The entire league is definitely afraid of seeing Wimby average 40 or more points a game and the rules are changed for him. And now it's entire team. Like I said, Wemby Rules are just the old Jordan Rules, and this is what it looks like in today's Charmin Soft Society of the NBA today. Where you can't sneeze on players like SGA and others. Instead of one team doing it to one guy It's now it's the whole league doing it to one guy, now the "Deeetroit baaasket ball" tried to do it to the entire goddamn team.
I give Sweeney a Mitch credit for keeping the guys in the game tonight mentally. And hope to God that this bullshit doesn't cost us a fucking player. It's obvious that's what the game is. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I can't unsee what I've seen.
PS,
I decided to post less on this board and the internet in general. I come to, you know, peek in for a moment and this thread turns into like some funhouse reflection of that garbage political thread on the other place. I mean, what we doing here guys?

send the video to the NBA to let them know that they should be protecting their asset.I know this is good prep for the playoffs, but how are some these blatant shoves not called fouls ?
Ah, so paying more attention to living environments and small pleasures rather than money would be superior? Intersting.tl;dr: french guy writes extensive essay on why french people are morally superior
Are we underrating Victor? His efficiency and offensive output is hit and miss from game to game, but he's so impactful out there on both ends of the floor that he just might be the best player in the World already.
Enough has been said about his defensive presence, so I won't expand on that; but his offensive gravity is very underrated. Everytime he rolls to the basket he drags 2 or 3 guys with him. Opposing bigs would concede layups to our guards just to try to prevent the lob to Vic.
So, to opposing players he's a magnet on offense and a repelent of defense. Nobody influences the game more without even needing to have the ball on his hands. He's like prime Curry on steroids, ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL. Shit is crazy.

Yup he has done this since year 1 but has had to do it more often recently due to reasons you saidWemby sneakily adjusting to players avoiding to go at him so he can farm his blocks again
It was the only reason his block streak ended, tbh. The block numbers started to dwindle from game to game because of that cowardly tacticYup he has done this since year 1 but has had to do it more often recently due to reasons you said
and eventually ended when he was still on minutes restriction as we blew out OKC. Teams are still employing it but his BPG/rate has picked up in February.Yeah, none of this 'classy organization' crap.. Spurs should be sending tape to Adam Silver's office when opposing players -- most likely instructed by their defensive coaches - are coming for Wemby's back and calf like this..send the video to the NBA to let them know that they should be protecting their asset.
You are 100% correct about the US. There is a moral component Americans attach to wealth. That is, the way Americans view the rich versus the poor is through a moral lens. Rich people are admired and poor people are despised.Ah, so paying more attention to living environments and small pleasures rather than money would be superior? Intersting.
It wasn't an “essay” on the superiority of one mindset over another, but rather on cultural differences that are denied in this thread.
But OK, if some people absolutely want to think that the whole planet dreams of adopting the American way of life, that explains a lot of misunderstandings about the supposed superiority of Americans - this time.
Wow. Thats some bullshit right there.Yeah, none of this 'classy organization' crap.. Spurs should be sending tape to Adam Silver's office when opposing players -- most likely instructed by their defensive coaches - are coming for Wemby's back and calf like this..
