Player The unfortunately low-ceilinged Shaolin monastery of Victor Wembanyama

Not with Caslt running the helm. If only we had a max contract PG who could run a pick and roll. Dumb Mitch.
Its wemby’s fault why his teammates cant get him the ball in a pick n roll. Even chris paul was having a hardtime getting him the ball. Now with harper and fox still the same. Dont be blind.

At the end of the game, we ran a good set that could have had Wemby get the ball deep inside the paint, but for some reason Victor decided to get out all the way to the top of the key to go get the ball. These are the types of details the coaching staff needs to work on.

i saw that.. one of the main reasons why i consider mitch an atrocious coach.

Im pretty sure they are doing it on practice. Its just that wemby doesnt learn.

our pg should show they have a spine (since the coach clearly doesn't), stop the play, point with their finger to wemby to take positioning in the right spot and do it until he stops. he is young but if he is never shown the way, he'll keep doing the same shit and just coast to a hall of fame career instead of goat career.

I wonder how many more times Wemby will have to turn the ball over while trying to go coast to coast until he realizes that it's just not a good idea for him doing that.

Whatever mistake you think Wemby should stop making, and he's got a bunch of them - don't expect it to change any sooner than the playoffs.

Sometimes lessons gotta hurt to be learned good.

It’s staring them at the face, a 3-guard rotation with plenty of pnr plus. Harper didn’t play last night was a revelation of how much this team needs him. He takes the pressure off a lot of people including Wemby. The sooner Harper gets more minutes as the primary facilitator, the sooner the Spurs play the right way and win.

I expected a major leap this season, but he's more or less stagnated as player with his consistency deteriorating further (His FTs for example, one night he goes 11-11; another 3-8) It is been a frustrating watch.

I don't deny the consistency issue but not seeing the progress he has made compared to last year is due to lack of paying attention...

I'm also not denying that he has had a stretch of meh games recently

They’re ahead on schedule with their winning record, but probably made Wemby a bit impatient at times, resulting to hero ball when things are not going his way. Hopefully losing those games would teach him to trust his teammates always, the process and things that got them there. He could really learn a lot from Timmy on playing consistent, than seeking KG who could be up one night and lose the following night.

The main issue for consistency is on offense because despite some advanced metrics about being a tad less dominant on defense last 15 games or so, he continues to be elite on that side it is just that he is being studied a lot. Now on offense I don't think inconsistency is hero ballin' kinda stuff it is for me that he has not figured out what it is going to be his bread and butter on that side navigating between a KD and a Hakeem. Once he and the staff decide once and for all dat consistency issue will go away. Now I hear everybody... we want Victor playing like a center etc etc... thing is his frame is still fragile, one can see he get battled hard there. it takes a toll on his stamina and body, I would not be surprised if there are some correlation btw between tuning down on defense and playing more inside. Very very few players have been able to dominate both side during long stretch.

Also and to put things into perspective, yes Victor has been inconsistent but he is still the most consistent player of dat roster except maybe Kelnotdoneyet. Now he has still a lot of work to do to reach Jokic, SGA, Luka steady output but again none of them puts the intensity that Victor is putting also on Defense.

How is Wemby completely forgotten after that first half? And in a close game like that he doesn't sniff a FGA for 15 straight minutes?

I have a feeling wemby will never win an mvp playing for spurs because the the organization is trying to emulate big 3 era system where the team is a title contender but nobody on the team win a MVP award.

Like for expample in tonight’s game. Wemby was having a great shooting night and was having a hot hand in the first half. Then all of a sudden they stop giving him the ball in the 2nd half to stop him from scoring and to balance the scroring sheet.

You act like Tim Duncan didn't finish in the Top 5 in MVP voting for 8 consecutive years (winning twice)

1998 to 2005 wasnt a big 3 era and timmy didnt have to deal with load management until 09-10 season. In fact he was avaeraging 38minutes or more from 1998 to 2004 where he won his 2 mvp’s(2002 and 2003).

Why do you care more about individual awards than team success?

It looks like mitch set victor free from load management by playing him 34 minutes. Hope it continues the rest of the season
