Player The unfortunately low-ceilinged Shaolin monastery of Victor Wembanyama

Victor is dat generation who hears media putting Kobe top 3 all time... this is what a helicopter crash do tbh... This crash did more for his legacy than his play. Kobe is goat at missing shots, his record will stand for a very long time.

He wants to be a guard so much, doesn't want to sound like a homer, AND Timmy has whooped on him in practice.

Gay. But whatever.

Isn't it widely reported that most actual NBA players significantly over-rate Kobe as compared to practically every single player besides Jordan? I think I've heard quite a few interviews where NBA players have Kobe top-2, top-3, top-5.... And Timmy is usually not brought up, or an afterthought.

Hopefully people don't read too much into this - especially considering Wemby himself seems to want to play more like Kobe than Duncan, lol...

People have been overrating him even more since he died, still sucks that he's no longer with us though.

did we ever figure out what vic did for his upper extremity DVT? ie, anticoagulants, thrombectomy, first rib resection (unlikely but you never know)

i remember reading an article that mentioned that the spurs believed that the DVT was provoked and wasn't the result of a genetic disposition to where a clot would return.

But of course only time will tell.

The speculation is that some "procedure" was done iirc. The French NT coach mentioned it a few months back when there was speculation as to whether Vic would play Eurobasket or not. Vic also had a few weeks in March where he wasn't at the games or on the sidelines, seemed logical if there was a medical procedure that was the window to have done it.

I expect someone will ask on Monday at media day (and the Spurs will subsequently pull their press credential going forward, gotta keep the SA media neutered). Wouldn't be surprised if the question is completely dodged but w/e.

ESPN has him as the 5th best player in the league for the upcoming season. Feels about right, hard to argue he should be above SGA/Jokic/Giannis/Luka at this point
