This team is in desperate need of a better media presence. It’s pretty crazy that you have the most consequential player of his generation here on this team and the people covering him are…Jeff Garcia checking his phone during video podcasts, the state run media of the spurs insider and small market bias podcasts, Jacob f’ing Tobey and his internet kid nonsense and nobody on any National platform watching this team.
There’s something quaint about this team operating in a media bubble but I’d rather have better voices and better content.
The spurs insider podcast is supposed to be the *official* top tier report out from the most connected beat reporters. But it is totally baffling to me. They seem to all not want to be there and then scoff at things like projections/predictions and player analysis. Thats almost whole essence of following sports and they’re like “nahhhh you guys don’t really want all that. What’s the point of speculating”.Shmurs is right though. My football ("soccer" for you in the US) team here in Argentina has better local media coverage than the Spurs. And it's not that great either. Also I get that Spurs run a tight ship, it may be useful in some situations to prevent info from leaking, but it seems extreme that there's so little clarity about player's injury, you find yourself guessing for months what the injury is, if the player had surgery or not, etc. Some transparency would be appreciated TBH, as a sign of respect towards fans.
I've always gotten the vibe that the most connected Spurs media take pride in the fact that they know "secrets" that they can't share, almost as if Pop enrolled them in some Spurs Skull & Bones Society. They act as though they are completely unaware that they are supposed to be journalists, and their "job" isn't just something they do to allow them to gain this special access for their own personal enjoyment. The spurs insider podcast is supposed to be the *official* top tier report out from the most connected beat reporters. Small market bias also has connected host(s) and is funny because you can almost hear him pulling his hair out as he just spins through every rationalization in the book to defend the players and FO.
It’s a little weird the national media would rather talk about dead end teams like the warriors every day than the spurs and I don’t really get why Vic isn’t drawing more day to day attention.
Agree on all fronts - including being a sicko and listening to people from here on a podcast if one existed. This/spurstalk is quality discussion IMO.I've always gotten the vibe that the most connected Spurs media take pride in the fact that they know "secrets" that they can't share, almost as if Pop enrolled them in some Spurs Skull & Bones Society. Small Market Bias is usually the best produced Podcast, but Tynan has fully drank the Kool Aid and does this whole "if you only knew what I knew, your opinion would be different" kind of thing that is either 1) a complete chickenshit way to avoid defending your takes or 2) a complete chickenshit way to do your job as a journalist.
I the production quality and the dudes on SSPN, but they are uneducated sniffers most of the time.
If we had guys from this forum who had polished speaking skills with appealing voices and could commit to a regular podcast schedule, I have no doubt they could build the best Spurs related podcast. The landscape is just so wide open.
Somewhat related, but wasn't there a shortlived Mono podcast that had Dale calling in from time to time?I've always gotten the vibe that the most connected Spurs media take pride in the fact that they know "secrets" that they can't share, almost as if Pop enrolled them in some Spurs Skull & Bones Society. Yeah Dale called the mono show once. Mono can tell the story better. He's here. @Fire NicoSomewhat related, but wasn't there a shortlived Mono podcast that had Dale calling in from time to time?

Even though it was a joke, I bet Wemby having a big enough 'do to make the top of his hair be at 8' could be a slight advantage on defense. Makes it even harder for a shooter to see the rim.LOL The Onion having a blurb about Victor coming to training camp having put on 25 pounds of hair, bringing his height to 10'3"

It'd be sort of a permanent Kornet Kontest without even needing to raise his armsEven though it was a joke, I bet Wemby having a big enough 'do to make the top of his hair be at 8' could be a slight advantage on defense. Makes it even harder for a shooter to see the rim.

Wemby blocking a shot with his fro would be an all-timer highlight. It'd be sort of a permanent Kornet Kontest without even needing to raise his arms![]()
That might happen unintentionally, TBHWemby blocking a shot with his fro would be an all-timer highlight.
tbh, I'd love to see him just block a shot with a Cristiano-like header, just for fun
