Player The unfortunately low-ceilinged Shaolin monastery of Victor Wembanyama

Are they counting each individual bounce of the ball?
Yeah, that's called dribbling.

Wemby's issue isn't that he dribbles the ball, it's that possessions become exponentially more inefficent with each dribble.
A couple of dribbles is fine, but those iso possessions shouldn't be a thing unless he's taking over and can't miss.

Exactly. If he wants to play like KD, fine, but then he needs to reach the same level of ball handling and jumpshot percentage

Victor was wearing an 'Air Afrique' shirt on the bench during the LAL game. Wondered about the significance, then saw this story in the NY Times Magazine about an MOMA exhibition coming up of Parisian art collective based on the cultural history and significance of Air Afrique. Collective has some sponsorship from Louis Vuitton.
I thought it quite funny that Victor was repping a different airline than the Cup sponsor. lol

I doubt Emirates is concerned about anyone going out and booking their next flight on Air Afrique :st-lol:

That Wemby dunk against four OKC players

A terrible unleashing of ascendant power...........!!!!

The Shaolin Defense................

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Haha, that video is hilarious, also instructive

If Wemby could now play the whole season..................would be incredible for us

Would be amazing if he doesn't miss more than 5 games the rest of the season for the guaranteed DPOY, which he deserved year 1, and if not for injury year 2, would receive. Basically I'm counting it as 3 DPOY in a row.

well, obviously a big Wemby fan, as a long time french spurs fan. but i have to admit i'm not a big fan of the way he talks and behaves sometimes. "I'm the best player of the league when i come back", the obsession and tounting with Chet who is just a class act all the time, celebrating so ostensibly a miss free throw and now the "pure and ethical basket" quote if it's really a dig at OKC...... he seems a very good person and teamate and very coachable. he should let these unnecessary childish things aside...

On the court, it's great to have the full squad. Wemby changes everything defensively, it really allows us to be a very good defensive team with a lot of very capable defenders around him as the control tower.

Offensively, our game is less fluid and fast with him for the moment, but he's drawing so much attention that can be exploited by the others guys with so many good scorers we have around him on our roster.
i'm sure we will soon know how to combine our fluid offense and fast tempo with him and the gravity he brings offensively.

Reaction typiquement française... :ROFLMAO: ;)

TP got the same type of reaction from french fans when he showed too much confidence in his early career interviews.

I get where you're coming from and I'd agree if it was anyone else, but that's the thing, Wemby isn't everyone, he's accepted that a long time ago and decided to own it and exploit his singularities and uniquenesses to their max.

He's already the target of every team that want to kill him every single game, he better have this type of goat mentality if he wants to survive.

He'll never become the best he can be with fake humility + he didn't say anything that isn't factual or can't be defended as such. More and more fans even neutral consider him already as the best player in the league bc they cumulate both ends of the court when maybe you're only looking at the offensive side.

As perfectible he is, as far as he is from his ceiling, there are solid arguments to say he's the most valuable player in the league today.

I'm not sure about Wilt, but noone in the modern NBA changed the game so much by just existing.
He instantly makes us the best defensive team in the league by just being on the floor.
Not even Duncan had that impact. Or prime Shaq on offense.

Wemby's worst games will still be a huge positive just because of his defense and he rarely gets into foul trouble. When he does, it's because of those stupid steal attempts and swipes at the ball.

Chet started this rivalry in the U18 US-France game several years ago, running smack while other guys on the US squad pulled it through for Team USA. Chet got MVP of that tourney when he arguably didn't deserve it, and flaunted it with Wemby. Don't feel sorry for Chet - he poked the bear like the fake tough guy he is, and Wemby is going to make him pay for it every time they play. I love it

Watching the team winning without him and enjoying Castle or Harper blossoming almost made me forget how watching games can be a totally different experience with Wemby on the court, he's so far from his prime and already so ridiculous.

Let's all touch wood, pray or whatever works so he stays healthy

This would never happen…

I actually think bringing Wemby off the bench could be a real advantage rather than a gimmick. Pairing him with Harper, Champ, and Johnson would create a second unit that most teams simply couldn’t match. You’re talking about elite rim protection and balanced scoring all 48 minutes.

Kornet, Barnes, Vassell, Castle, and Fox gives the Spurs balance and enough shots for everyone. Then when Wemby checks in like a hockey style line change.

It’s a fairy tale idea
