Player The unfortunately low-ceilinged Shaolin monastery of Victor Wembanyama

Chicagos shots were also falling at an inordinate rate through 3 quarters.

If you play last night’s game rosters in 10 games, we win 9 of them handily.
True, I was more talking about the fact that Chicago didn't apply the same blueprint to defend Wemby as the other teams for the past 4 games. Like most players, Wemby shoots well when he gets in the groove, if teams start to double team him, they are preventing him from getting in that groove forcing him to pass the ball, which won't be a problem if his teammates shoot the ball well. While we can expect Wemby to shoot worse, we can expect Champagnie, Fox and others to shoot better, they were pretty bad in that game from three

What I love is that no matter how you slice it, Wemby has faced a lot of different defensive looks... but at the end of the day we're 8-2.

He got a bunch of open looks off of Fox penetration. If teams try to cover Wemby instead of double or triple teaming Fox, then good luck. Fox will get to the rim in a 1-on-1 situation everytime.

true but OKC will stick with Chet on Victor, they will send help but won't 90's double or triple team him, Victor 2.0 is eating bigs for breakfast so there is that
I don't think Chet will be on Victor, it would be stupid and Daigneau ain't an idiot.

It'll be a smaller player like Dort and Chet help defense.

Okc was the 1st team with Houston to play physical and dble/triple Wemby.

To have any shot at winning, our role players will have to make their 3s bc Wemby's gonna be trapped constantly imo

Pretty much and two of our starters are not that great (Fox and Castle) at shooting the three. Hopefully, they improve during the season.

Call me naive but I still hope BW makes a move, realizing Wemby is ready.

Sochan, who is a real trading piece bc he's an expiring contract and still has some hype could be packaged rather than losing him for nothing

Just add the friendly Biyombo to sweeten the deal... :ROFLMAO:

TM3 +Saddiq Bey for Vassel+Sochan+2 FRP (2026+Atlanta 2027)?

That’s what they did in the past but they could do that because Chet could ignore sochan offensive threat, Dort would be on victor but Chet help was almost immediate. Okc will mix things up obviously but this spurs team is no rookie year wemby. Their guards will have their hands full and Chet won’t be able to cheat that much anymore. As always 3 pts will be key but if our shooters can convert at a decent clip early enough I can see Chet on Victor straight up.

We'll need to game plan Chet bc every okc games I watch I'm stunned at how often he's open to shoot, it's as if for whatever reason teams didn't respect him much on the perimeter

Other worry is that Castle is at risk of early foul trouble with the way SGA foul bait, not sure how to use him but Sochan might be serviceable by stretch on him.

Can't wait for this game tbh

Yeah the ultimate test..okc is scary

If Victor ever breaks his block streak it's probably gonna be against the Warriors. They absolutely avoid him anywhere near the paint. He was lucky to get one on a three tonight.

I'm actually not impressed by any of their players and don't think it's (yet) a great team. I think Chet is massively overrated for ex and SGA can only have this offensive production bc of the refs' leniency regarding his foul baiting that are more often SGA fouling by extending his off arm. He literally does it all the time, it has become a reflex lol smh

But like the Big 3 era Spurs they don't beat themselves and win most of their games for that reason. Everybody know their place and task and that by itself is such an advantage vs 90% of the teams.

If only Mitch noticed it and could use it against them for the next game...

I think some get too caught up in the “they didn’t face elite competition” narrative but that’s not OKC’s fault. They still overcame obstacles which will have them more mentally ready for a repeat. They are still by far the best team in the league. Like raider said 12-1 despite missing their 2nd best player. First repeat champion I think will happen in a while.

OKC will just get better cause all of their players are young. This is not last years team. The majority of their players will make another leap.

After a great start with 0, 0 and 2 turnovers in first three games, he's back at his usual unserious shit.
4, 3, 6, 5, 4, 5, 3 and 8 turnovers.
38 in 8 games, 4.75 per.

That just won't do.
At least 5 turnovers against the Warriors were negative IQ basketball.
Spinning into Butler from a triple threat position is idiotic. As were those fancy passes.

When Harper is back, we'll have too many guards that need the ball and we won't need point Wemby.
We need efficent Wemby.
If he can't get over himself and accept that, then we're not getting anywhere.

Yeah, Wemby's turnovers were a big part of why the Spurs lost this game. Overall, I didn't really like his offense against the Warriors. His shot was falling, which is obviously great to see, but it makes his stats look better than his overall production actually was in this game.

I'm with you on this one.. he is this kind of player where the box score is really far from telling the whole story

"not impressed by okc" is a wild take

these guys won 68 games last year with quite a bit of injuries as well. then they wont the title despite going cold from 3. now they have started the season 12-1 despite not being healthy
You can be impressed by their efficiency but not by the basketball they play.

You can also add context and realize how the league is in an unstable era and most teams are in a rebuilding process just when okc finished theirs.

They're clearly the favorite (with denver bc Jokic is by far the best player today) but more by default, hence some "defiance".

I am not sure how you translate not being impressed by the basketball they play, you may dislike watching them but this is another topic. I understand the argument about going to 7 games, I also the argument about teams rebuilding etc... but it is an elite team doing elite things.. there is no fluke being the best defensive team of the league and SGA is clearly a top 3 player. I don't know how you'd rank them against recent LOBT winners but they are the champs and favorites to win another one. Back to back is increasingly difficult to achieve of course but they are 12 and 1 even if their schedule has not been very challenging so far.

To come back to Victor.. I even did not realize he had a triple double :st-lol: he was actually close to a quadruple... just missing 2 TOVs

Those stats are crazy when you think back on the actual game, as it didn't really seem like a good game from him. He made many mistakes and had too many turnovers. Needs to be a lot more focused for the whole game and not try those fancy passes or moves all the time.
