Player The Uncertainty Realm of the Improved Jumpshot of Jeremy Sochan

"Remember that funny guy the Spurs drafted in 22'? With the hair and stuff...?"

He should start catching DNPs and wait for his opportunity when someone is unavailable.
Offers nothing out there.
His only use will be matching up with big forwards, but even then we're better off having Wemby on them and playing Kornet.
Exactly..He is a situational player at this point.. That 2022 draft was meant to be a complete whiff it seems.

With castle taking on the perimeter defender role, kornet the rebounder and KJ the energy guy, sochan doesn’t have much on court value now.

Sad, really.

I have no love for him but he could still turn it around and be a good situational 10th/11th guy. Lots of change and a guy with questionable processing. He might figure out how to contribute with time.

…but do not bring him back next year

Do you guys think the Spurs should look trading him? And who would you trade from the current team if it were able to get the Spurs a SF/PF? It seems when we were hearing about the Durant rumours, it seems that the Spurs were not willing to include him in a trade. If so, do you think that was a mistake?

Suns were asking for Castle/Harper.
If it was just Sochan/Devin/Barnes, we would've surely made the trade.

Anyhow, we can't really get another reclamation project for him making around the same money.
Even if we include Olynk, there's not much going on.

Yeah, OK, I thought the Spurs weren't even willing to include Sochan in trades. If it was either Castle/Harper, then that was never going to happen.

Not yet. If this were year two for Carter Bryant Id probably say yes. Still think its important to have a big forward for the Lukas and Leonards of the world, and as good as Steph has been i dont think that sustainable.

It's either trade him or lose him for nothing (no loss tbh addition by subtraction) package him with someone else (DV KJ) and see what you can get (wishful thinking?) We didn't extend him for a reason, for multiple very valid reasons.

If somehow Brian can consolidate 2 of Vassell/Sochan or Johnson/Sochan you have to do it.

Would Brooklyn want him as a project for Haywood Highsmith?

Good call, I forgot he ended up in Brooklyn.
Exactly the type of deal we need to be looking for. Placeholder 3-D forward until Bryant develops.
I wanted Highsmith a couple of years back.
But then again, maybe he was a contributor only because of Spoelstra's magic.

He hasn't played a minute for BKN yet... I don't know if he has an injury, is just getting the Devonte Graham treatment, or is just completely washed.

But as just a spot 3-and-D vet, I think that would be a fine move for us. If BKN would toss in a SRP so we feel like winners, that would be even better.

He's either in Mitch's dog house, has a shit attitude, or just isn't deserving of a spot in the rotation.

should've played some of Kornet's minutes last night tbh

I would have to agree with this. Just watched the game, and I think Luke is great, but he can't guard on the perimeter and the Spurs are lacking competent perimeter defenders, that Jeremy maybe should have gotten more court time in last night's game.

Putting Jeremy on Jimmy butler would have been a good option, and let him set some high picks on the other end

Technically, yes, that was also my reaction live.

Then you wonder why and realize that if even Mitch doesn't trust his reads and decisions and would rather accept the cost of Kornet lack of mobility (we all saw it) it must mean something.

Our roster is just quite incomplete (size, wings and shooting mostly) as a few of us pointed out before the start of the season. All the good stuff don't erase the bad.

Sochan situation is bad, he is now, rightfully so, restricted at some garbage minutes here and there. Keldonenotdonejustyet is clearly ahead in the rotation. Sochan is gone at next trade deadline

I didn’t see the game but can someone tell me why after 6+ minutes 1/1 on 3s, 3 rebounds and an assist and Spurs having trouble defending guys like Butler and the perimeter Mitch never put him in the fame again?

People say that they want him to take shots even if they aren’t going in. Why is that? He’s going to miss them at a rate that would indicate it’s a better decision to look for another play. And more importantly, even if he starts shooting, nobody is going to guard him. Most guys you often get the defender reflexively coming out to contest even if it’s a poor shooter. This dude’s reputation is such shit and the big neon sign on his head in the past made it so you don’t even have to look at him or think about what to do. It’s just an easy “don’t contest, stay in paint”.

I’m not saying anything the coaches don’t know though. He’s just a complete dead end.
