What improvements?
He started taking 3s, but he's 0-8 over the past 3 games. Blazers left him open by design and he wasn't even close on either attempt.
Every aspect of his offensive game except rebounding is really bad.
Defense is good, but not elite. The days of one-way players being a thing are long gone.

If the Spurs had any kind of offers or teams with real interest in him last season or during the offseason, they may have squandered what looks like/might have been his highest trade value .

I feel really bad for Jeremy. Hopefully he can somehow pull himself out of this. I really thought he was better than what he is currently showing. He was one guy that really needed to play in the preseason too. He needed confidence going into the season and to feel good about his game.

Yeah, I feel bad for him, too. His decision-making is so bad when his confidence is low, like most humans. It was already at a questionable level when he's confident. As the overall IQ has increased on this team (thank the basketball gods!) he's not in sync. Just not where he needs to be or aware of teammates and schemes at a playable level. His timing on screens, DHOs and cuts are just bad. With all the new coaches, the details are sharpening. I doubt that Jeremy is much of a details guy. If Corliss Williamson can't help him, probably no one can. As for Mitch, can't say he hasn't tried to put Sochan in a position to succeed, just hasn't happened yet.

He's had 3.5 years with one of the best player development franchises and all of that practice has amounted to more or less nothing.
Yes, he got fucked over with point guard and backup big experiments, but those happened only because he wasn't good enough for his primary role.

Look at it this way.
Anyone who makes the NBA, especially as a FRP won at life.
He got himself a guaranteed $21M contract, money us mere mortals can only dream of.
And he got it by not even being that good at his job.

let's not get stupid, it is very obvious his shot improved a lot. It may not be good enough, but it surely improved a lot. I think his defense regressed, actually, and I blame mitch for it.

I don't see it as Sochan failing. I see him as a success on a personal level.

A guy who plays professional basketball in the top league in the world that can't shoot, pass, rebound, defend, is pretty much devoid of any actual nba skill, still made 23 million dollars. To me that is 4 years of somebody who is exceptionally bad at their job making top end money at their job. That's a win.

If they redid the draft it's possible Sochan doesn't get drafted at all. It's possible his career basketball earnings would go from 23 million to exactly 0.

For somebody who is supposed to be a good athlete with decent size he is totally gun shy when it comes to going at the rim near defenders. He had some nice finishes through contact in his rookie year, what happened to that guy? Have the injuries taken their toll on a 22 year old? Has he not developed his body?

The shot looks better, but I guess that doesn’t mean much if the results are the same. His defense seemingly regressing from almost elite to just solid completely changes the math of his value on the court in a bad way.

It was widely believed (or maybe just theorized by his fans) that he was offlimits in trade discussions for Fox and over the summer… but Don Harris flat out said he was not held out of trade talks by the Spurs. With that said, I can’t imagine another team has looked at the tape and seen something they’d actively want to trade for

Yes, he played zero minutes in the second half. He was actually benched in the 2Q when Mitch went to Kelly instead of Sochan

I think he's a fake tough guy but I still kind of feel bad for him because he does seem like a guy who wants to do well for us. It sucks to basically admit you're useless on a team that is this good. He's in the wrong era of basketball.

Let’s just operate under the assumption that the utter and complete failure of the 2021 and 2022 drafts are what enabled the 2023, 2024 and 2025 drafts.

There is a way to make him shine, we've seen it, but it requires him being the center of the team and being used in simple P&R and leaving him free to cut and attack the rim etc

The issue is that it's only worth it if you're tanking.

You're a good man.

Look at the whole picture tho, he's made enough money to never be in need and he's still so young, sometimes you mature at 23-25yo only and with the proper work ethic and determination who knows...

I don't think he's lost as much as a bit too "free" in the artistic sense of the term, he wants to be different and he's a very opened individual, I'm not worried about him, good stuff will happen, he seems to be a good soul.

The last few games has just been absolute abominations, to a point where it just looks like it's all in his head. Blowing layups after layups, fumbling the ball out of bounds like he got bitten by a snake. I know he doesn't have the best hands but this is beyond bad, and the numbers reflect it so far this year. His perimeter defence as well as rebounding has also dropped off significantly, turnovers are way up. It's sad really.
