Player The Uncertainty Realm of the Improved Jumpshot of Jeremy Sochan

his FT and 3 pt stroke look smooth today
Even if he's not on the Spurs long term, he needs this for his confidence. I hope it continues and all the work that he's put in with his shot pays off for him. I'd be happy for him if that is the case The main thing I was upset about was his lack of confidence to even take the shots. If you don't have confidence, the shot has no chance of going in, and if that's his mindset, you can't play the player. So far, he's starting to shoot the ball and not shy away from it. That's vital and he needs to keep that same mindset going forward.

I'm not obsesses by his 3pts shooting as most of you. He's never been more unreliable than most of this roster to me.

What I'm focused on is his participation of the offense, his passing, his focus, court awareness, ability to create his own shot with safe dribble, not stopping in the middle of the action etc

And his focus on defensive rotations.

Those are the main handicaps in his game imo and what would make him worth keeping log term.

His shot is definitely looking better, as is his hair. He seems a bit more serious out there. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Maybe the lack of an extension is causing him to be a bit more serious about his game. Either way, the more he sees go in, the more likely he is to take them. He even took one with a defender in his face. He would not have done that last year.

Me neither.

Kids like him need to be challenged, they're naturally too chill/lazy

Being offered a starting spot straight away and not having to fight for it imo slowed his development.

Who knows? We've seen more unexpected 180s in the past...

The hair thing is very interesting. Didn't someone here (when taking a shot at his game) post about teams being able to see him clearly on defense because of his hair (he sticks out like a sore thumb), so they can easily see him in their peripheral vision and cheat away from him/leave him open. Next thing you know, he's got cornrows. I liked seeing him change to cornrows. I think it's a smart move on his part.

He has to settle for being a low paid, 3rd stringer for the rest of his career. No team seriously competing should ever have him in their rotation. Otherwise, his career will be short lived.

Sochan is super talented, in theory. Too bad we live in reality.

Last nail in the coffin, tbh.
In theory he was the best Avdija defender, didn't matter.
We even played small without him at the end.
If he can't get in those lineups, he's probably done.
Yeah, looks like Mitch & Sweeney are finally out on him...Complete disaster of '22 draft. Real talk: he might be a vet minimum guy at this point :st-lol:

He can't even stay on the floor for this team when a couple of our players are out

I’ve been a fan of him (read: cautiously optimistic he can turn things around) but feeling super thankful we didn’t extend him at this point. He’s not worthless but paying him legitimate rotation player money when he’s unplayable in several situations just isn’t feasible.

Will still root for him but if he can’t even play a part with Wemby/Castle out…ouch

He should just be a Tom Copa end-of-bench feel good player at this point. Don’t know where that leaves Bismack tho

I gotta admit; out of the friendship crew (KJ, Devin), i didn't think Sochan would be the first one who would lose favor, gets played out of rotation and eventually gets moved. His downfall has been quick and nearly complete.

Yeah what highlight moment has he had outside of pinching nipples and saying Fuck Houston that one time. I can’t think of one.
I think NASpurs was talking more about how Sochan “looks” tbh.

He looks like he can jump out of the building, he cant.

He looks like he has 99th percentile athleticism, he doesnt.

He looks strong, he’s not.

He looks perfect for a tweener, he doesnt have a position.

He looks dumb as fuck, unfortunately for us, he is.

Well he always been trash so he didn't have far to fall tbh.

Keldon and Devin are WAY better basketball players than Sochan, on account of them being able to dribble, shoot, and actual make shots.

Idk what theory that is either
It's string theory, multiple dimensions that defy our traditional understanding of physics. You see a shot being missed, but in another universe, it was a perfect swish.

Real talk: What would he bring without costing too much as a "vet minimum"?
