Player The Lifelong Residency of the Ever-Important Heart and Soul of the Spurs, Keldon Johnson

I didn't count in Murray and D-White as they have the ball in their hands most of the time....hence it might be easier to gain confidence and the reps due to this valuable in-game opportunities and gain real experience.

For Nephew and KJ, they mostly played off ball in the early years and eventually become a dependable shot creator (yes I think KJ is slowly creeping into this tier).

Not sure what kind of training KJ did in the last off season....he should invite Castle and Harper and CB to train together tbh :st-lol:

There’s a subtle evolution in the last 10 games if anyone’s noticed - he’s posting up more and more and playing bully ball. Practically the only player on the team who plays that kind of style on offense. This will be a good weapon in the playoffs.

hes been bullying centers, its pretty wild

and he is able to get his jump hooks off at a lot of different and unorthodox angles and release points which is why hes consistently able to avoid getting blocked despite being guarded by guys taller than him. sengun does this too

Keldon's transformation during his Spurs career has been so fascinating to watch.

That jump hook is unstoppable. He need to hold a clinic for some of our other guys!

Unbelievable turnaround from Keldon in the way he's adapted to the infusion of higher end talent into the roster. Total opposite of Sochan.. I think Vassell is also doing something similar on a lower scale.

I didn’t think it was possible for a player to raise his IQ over a summer. I was wrong about him. He used to be as retarded as cASStle is just barreling into the lane mindlessly… now he’s developed a more consistent shot and damn good post game to go along with his pesky defense.

He more than exceeded the draft expectations on him. At least that’s one late pick that panned out post DJ and White.

He was drafted #29, so my expectations were very high, since for some reason all our #29 picks seem to do really well (#28 as well)

(Just kidding about my expectations been high… he’s definitely exceeded and is an outlier for the expected range of outcomes for a late FRP)

Keldon didn't get smarter over the summer. Many of you are just dumb and don't know what the hell you're talking about so you pull out abstract shit like "basketball IQ" to harp on. You have NO ideas what the instructions are to the players so how in the hell could you possibly judge whether or not they are playing in a smart manner? It was clear as fucking day that many spurs players - Keldon among them - were much worse off because the lack of a coherent system on either side of the court. Anyway, the basketball IQ shit is dumb as hell.

Having a different opinion is one thing, insulting others to prove your point just makes you look like an idiot.

Keldon won us the game tonight. The Spurs were chucking early shot clock 3s and refusing to drive, and Keldon came down and really switched the tone of the game with 3 hard drives in a row (which were preceded by 2 3 point bricks by Keldon, but the most important thing is that the realized the error and corrected. Absolutely flipped the game with those drives.

You guys insult players and the coach all the damn time talking about things you have no idea or frame of reference on. So many of you have been calling Keldon and Devin dumb for years and then make backhanded comments about them suddenly getting smarter instead of wondering if it was maybe YOU all along who didn't understand what was going on? You think that somehow comes across as smart?

Its not being wrong that makes anyone dumb. It's being wrong, then acting like it was a magical change in someone's IQ that happened instead of just understanding that maybe you misjudged something, thinking about WHY you misjudged it, and adjusting how you view things. No instead people are like OMG KELDON GOT SO SMART ALL OF A SUDDEN.

Also its hilarious to have this post in response to me calling someone using the r word an idiot. Way to pick your spot man.

I wasn't even a part of this discussion, I'm just saying that if you open your posts with insults aimed at other members, I won't even bother reading it.

There’s a reason why Pop brought him in that 2020 Tokyo Olympic Team. Keldon brings energy and fight to the team. And he’s done that even after getting relegated to the 2nd team.

It's time for me to eat crow with him. He was the first guy I wanted out, but he has proven he can be effective off the bench by playing bigger than 6'5" with his rebounding and tough drives to the basket.

I wonder if he would be willing to adjust his salary to stay a Spur for ever. If there was ever a guy on this roster that might do this, it's him, imho.

:st-lol: Even Mitch Johnson eluded to it saying this is the first time keldon Johnson is playing winning basketball earlier in the season
