Well, I didn’t hear that we had been scouting Sarr, Risacher, or Sheppard for years. They had been scouting Castle that long.

when posters make up their mind in here, it reminds me of the MAGA hordes who just take off with their revisionism regardless of a lack of evidence. who the f*ck knows what the Spurs would have done with the #1 pick and what's the point? as Jesse Jackson once quipped "the question is moot!"

It was only reported that the Spurs had been scouting Castle for that long after they drafted him. Why would reports come out to say they scouted other players the same way? That makes no sense. I don’t know why anyone would run away with assumptions on what happened based on what’s only reported. Do people think everything is reported?

I was there. Brian Wright really wanted to draft Dillingham at 4, but Pop overruled him and said "we'll get him at 8". Brian agreed reluctantly. Then when 8 came up, Pop stone cold stared straight into Brian's eyes as he traded Dilly away to Minnesota. Straight up CIA assassin shit.

Look... I'm happy with how everything turned out... but I do want to say that Castle/Matas/Ajay Mitchell was my perfect draft... and it was all right there for us and now look who are all bunched near each other on this chart.

After a rough start on FTs this year beginning with the Suns game Castle has gone 28/33 in six games for 85%. Hopefully that’s not just being on a FT heater but indicates he’s turned the corner on them. Also that high FT percentage suggests hopefully a brighter future for his 3 pt shot.

Castle's nose-to-the-grindstone work ethic and game face is what is so rare in young players. He is a player you can build a culture around and that teams feed off. The numbers are impressive and there is no doubt this kid is bringing it with guts, grit and some elite playmaking and defensive skills. He's just getting started. I think next summer will see the necessary improvement in his 3pt shooting, too. Strangely, in some ways Castle reminds me of a young Ron Harper, especially on defense. Before the knee injuries, Ron Harper was a menace on D.

Dylan and Castle really seem like a perfect backcourt. We really hit the jackpot with them. Now we need some similar luck at the forward position.

You misunderstood. I don’t doubt the validity of the report. I’m questioning the logic of saying “Castle’s the only one prospect they scouted since he was 5” because the only report you’ve heard is from Sean. There are other prospects they could have done the same too even if no one has said it or broke news about it.

If you wanted all those guys, that's an amazing call. Spurs should have consulted you with those picks. You would have nailed every single one of them. I just saw Brian Windhorst in a video earlier today giving Ajay Mitchell tons of props. Again, though, probably no D-Harp if we get those guys.

Matas will be an interesting “what if.” I really wanted him at 8, but also saw the merit of 1) trading it away for a great haul, and 2) using part of that haul to land Fox.

Difference is Cade was a very good shooter in college so there was reason to believe it would come around
