And 2012 was TP's 11 years in the league and "head of the snake" as Timmy and Manu were aging and Nephew was just a rookie.

Truly impressive for Castle especially with the TO woes in the earlier games did not get into his head.
 
The "Castle is not a PG" take has not aged well. Guy knows how to get people good shots, especially at the rim. I love how he is always looking to set up the pass when he heads into the paint, teams really have to pick their poison and he makes them pay. We are beyond set with Castle, Harper and Fox as our lead guard trio for years to come.
 
he’s a “guard”. We have 3. All fitting of that title. Any other parsing is a waste of time. We have a lot of guys who can get out of a press and initialize offense. So there isn’t really a need to have a “PG”.
 
I’m glad he’s not doing as much herky jerky eurosteps. His calves are good today. They will not be good forever.

Just wanted to throw this out there, these were Castle's most common comps/outcomes during the draft and rookie year. Oftentimes you can tell dudes' star trajectories by their year 2/3 jump and we may be seeing this with Castle. I'd put him up there with any of the above second year guys as a defender as well. Keep it up!
 
It was frustrating to watch the TO's and missed free throws in the first few games. Really nice to see those getting cleaned up along with the assist numbers.
 
Tbh we need to thanks the basketball god for letting Spurs only get the 4th pick in the 2024 draft....

Imagine if we got the 1st pick in 2024 draft. I think Brian Wright might pick Risacher or Alex Sarr or even Reed Sheppard tbh.

Agree. He can get to the basket a lot of times without those slow down steps. Would like to see him use his speed more.

No, they scouted Castle for years. Do you remember the lottery, when we popped out at 4th? BWright’s face was devastated. He thought we wouldn’t get Castle.

If we had the #1 pick,we were taking Castle.

He can get to the basket, but those herky jerky steps are what puts the defender off balance and out of position, drawing all of those fouls. You want that. If he were only finishing through contact, he’d be a far less efficient player. Those FTs bring up his TS% to a respectable level for a poor 3 point shooter.

always take those statements with a grain of salt. the spurs frequently say things like that and could just be lying to avoid a scandal where they say "we wanted this other player but thankfully player X is not dog shit" the spurs also don't accidently disclose draft strategy gems. So saying castle was number 1 on the board is just a could be true, but unless we see the board could be fluffing

everyone is gonig to look sad after getting the 4th pick. theres the commercial break before they go into the top 4... so you have a couple of minutes to digest that you are in the legit running for the top pick. to be the first name called off is always going to cause something of a letdown.

i think they comfortably would have taken Risacher with the top pick

Well, I didn’t hear that we had been scouting Sarr, Risacher, or Sheppard for years. They had been scouting Castle that long.

I agree, I believe Spurs would have picked him.

So far needless to say that Castle >> Risacher tbh.. Risacher is not showing tons of progress thus far compared to his rookie year, I'd even say he is regressing... which sucks for FNT

Tony made a career not shooting 3s tbh but the Spurs had the Green, Bonner etc.. to space the floor we have currently blanc de blanc, Vassel.. eventhough and fortunately we also HB
 
Opposing teams will start to focus more on Castle. Especially when Wemby is on the bench
It's still the beginning for him
