The Spurstalk main webpage is beyond fucked, but after some tries, I managed to find a consistent link to access older Grades posts. Here's a very simple comparison of some grades articles from 3-5 years ago, and the one from last night's game:

Welp, good run. Prior to the tipoff of their game against the Utah Jazz, the San Antonio Spurs were officially eliminated from playoff contention. After 22 consecutive seasons of taking part in the postseason, the Spurs will be watching the festivities from home this year.

With the playoffs hopes up in smoke, head coach Gregg Popovich decided to sit DeMar DeRozan, Derrick White, Rudy Gay and Patty Mills against the Jazz. As a result, San Antonio predictably stumbled.

At the end of the first quarter, Utah had a 41-24 lead. The Jazz held on to their advantage for the duration of the game. At one point deep into garbage time in the fourth quarter, the Spurs cut the deficit to three points — only for SLC to respond with a 9-0 to ice the game.

All in all, it’s difficult to take too much from this game. The level of play was lower than what we witnessed during the scrimmages. At times, it looked more like a pick-up game than an official NBA contest. That said, we got a good look at some of the younger players — so it wasn’t a total waste of time.

I’ll be writing more soon about the season as a whole but I think all Spurs fans can say that we feel better about this team after what we witnessed in the bubble. In what was otherwise a frustrating season, these last eight regular season games were entertaining and hopefully point toward a brighter future.

The San Antonio Spurs dropped their second consecutive preseason game. This time, the 109-105 defeat was at the hands of an undermanned Miami Heat squad that was sitting most of their rotation players, including their three best players. The Spurs were without Jakob Poeltl (rest) but it’s not an encouraging sign that they struggled so much against a shell of a team. San Antonio wasn’t going all out to win the game but they tried hard enough that it’s discouraging that they didn’t play better.

The San Antonio Spurs moved to 2-0 in the preseason with a 112-107 victory over the Miami Heat, who dropped to 0-3 with the loss. The Spurs finished the game on a 9-0 run to escape Miami with a win. San Antonio plays their third game of the preseason on Friday versus the Utah Jazz.

What interested me most wasn’t the articles themselves but how people reacted to them. They were AI-generated, yet many treated them as if they carried real insight, praising timvp and saying they came to the forum just to read them. It showed how easily people transfer trust and admiration from a person’s past credibility to whatever carries their name.

There’s something psychological in that, how recognition can override perception. Once people decide someone is authoritative, they stop evaluating the content itself. The words become secondary to the idea of who they believe is speaking. It isn’t deception that sustains that kind of loyalty, it’s familiarity and the comfort of believing that what you already trust is still authentic. Maybe in the end it didn’t matter who wrote the articles, because what people really valued was having a clean summary of the game they couldn’t watch instead of sifting through a messy thread of posts.

I didn't really read them, I just hoped to encourage him to keep/start caring, but that ship had sailed long ago.

This timvpai remains an hypothesis... I personally think it is unlikely, as a writer and somebody who has some "insider" information at times you rely on your reputation that is your biggest asset. I don't think he would allow somebody use his username to vomit some grades generated AI.

You’re still clinging to what was. The insider stuff dried up a long time ago. Go a few posts up and look at the examples Suggs posted. The contrast is pretty clear.

Ive seen crazier things indeed and im not stating that it is not the case, I just find it unlikely. I also get the insider stuff thing of the past but your reputation is one of the key of your professional and personnal life, i just find difficult to believe you put that at risk for posting ai freaking grades on a message board knowing it let clear even family name. Would not be the first time Im wrong tho

I tried tactfully asking Timvp (if that was really him) if he could give an update since time had passed. Even if that update was "No i can't, can't reveal in any way my sources."
Instead was pure crickets. Hmmn.

No, timvp was actually timvp up until somewhere after covid.
He was regularly interacting with everyone on the forum during the nephew shitshow.
