Game Thread Spurs vs Jazz (Fri 10/10/25) [7:00PM CDT]

Harper's jumpshot looks consistent.
The release point is a bit low, but I don't think he'll struggle with his shot after he adjusts to the NBA 3pt line.
yeah i know its been beaten to death that shooting is an area of improvement for him, but i think its been said to the point where people equate his shooting with Castle's, which really isnt the case

Yeah you can already see with some refinement this Wemby and Kornet lineup going to be a problem for the league

Harper with the cut for his first bucket and the corner 3 there bode well for his ability to share the court with Fox/Castle
I’ve got a feeling he’ll only share time with one out of the two, not both. And this is because all three are primary ballhandlers. We’ll see.

yeah i agree. i didnt mean with all 3 at the same time.

But i think one Fox/Castle should be on the floor at all times, with them also sharing minutes here and there. Kind of like Wemby/Kornet. I like the idea of having the continuity of left handed point guards so you dont have to invert too much of your offense, which side you screen from, etc.

So if Fox plays 36 minutes, Harper plays in those 12 without him, and maybe plays another 12-13 with him when Castle sits, etc

I don't see an issue with it.
96 guard minutes available, always have two of them on the floor.

KJ and Vassell look legit tonight
I could see a 5 guard rotation like the Pacers. Fox/Castle/Vassell/Harper/Waters.
IQ and ball movement is much improved since last year

Harper has been pretty solid defensively all game, but that was a particularly strong sequence

These quick transitions after a rebound by Wemby are already near-impossible to deal with.

The rest of the league right now

It's the Jazz without Lauri, Kessler, Filipowski, Collier, but being able to control a game this thoroughly despite being 6-19 from 3 is hard to be discouraged by, even if the only takeaway is how ready Harper looks

To think that this team is still missing the reigning Rookie of the Year........

......AND an All-Star guard..................

My eyes are laser focused on Harper on defense and yes I can confirm he is playing amazing defense. Good footwork, fundamentals.
theyre not asking him to create something on every single offensive possession like he was used at Rutgers, and looks like he's taking advantage of that by using some of that energy on D. particularly since he's not playing heavy starters minutes, he can exert himself full time when on the floor

I'm excited to see this, but sub in Vassell for Keldon. I think that could have enough shooting to be sustainable too.
