Trade Spurs Trade Ideas

Wiggins would be a nice upgrade to Barnes, but I understand Wiggins has a PO this summer. can anyone see him not use it?
he will go for a 3 or 4 years contract, maybe around 100 million, something like Gordon or Randle got.
he either plays well for his new team, then he will get those offers, or he plays bad, doesn't receive such offers and decides to opt in for 26/27.
either scenario doesn't fit the Spurs plans.
Spurs won't have the longterm money (unless they replace Vassell with Wiggins), so trading for Wiggins will be a rental.
and Miami won't let him go for just expirings and 2nd rounders.

Grant Williams continues to be my sneaky top target that shouldn't cost much. He's only played 58 minutes so far this season but his advanced stats are massively positive playing on a bad Hornets team. Burly, tons of playoff experience, contract expires after next season, only 27 years old and shouldn't cost that much.

58 minutes this season? yeah I'm out

What's his contract rn?
$13M this and the next season.
I'd also take a chance on him, 1:1 trade with Olynk or even Sochan+McLaughlin, we add a SRP or two.

He's got playoff experience, is young enough and would be a great backup PF if he can get back to his peak level.
If not, he'll be an expiring contract next season.

Yeah I wouldn't mind it for a reasonable price.

Grant Williams tore his ACL, his meniscus and I'm not sure if something else, and he hasn't proven anything yet. It's quite a leap of faith to assume he'd be a contributor for the Spurs this year, and I don't think he's a long term piece either. Not a fan.

He'd be cheap and checks a lot of boxes for us.

Boston Williams would, there's no guarantee he'll get there soon (or ever) given how bad his injury was. Also, remember he was salary dumped by Dallas when he was healthy. IMO Spurs can do better with Olynyk's expiring.

Charlotte Hornets forward Grant Williams sustained season-ending tears to the ACL, meniscus and associated ligaments in his right knee, sources told ESPN on Sunday.
Sorry, but that sounds horrific. ACL + meniscus + multiple other ligaments in his knee is a deal breaker to me.

Being traded for PJ Washington isn’t a salary dump. My objection is that like Barnes, he doesnt rebound the position. We already have a better version of Grant. His name is Keldon.

Dallas was trying to move Grant's contract and they landed on PJ Washington but his value was much lower back then. Grant wasn't seen as a positive contract at the time he was traded. But in any case, the problem here is THE INJURY, which he hasn't gotten over yet.

Honestly, is he any better than Olynyk right now? I'm not so sure..
He just turned 27 and people are acting like he’s completely cooked. I get that he’s coming off injury but still. It bears repeating that his advanced stats are extremely positive playing on a bad team this season in a small sample size.

KO by comparison turns 35 in the playoffs and is also coming off a major injury and it doesn’t fit the current roster very well.

Advanced stats from when, in Boston 3 years ago? The age has nothing to do with it, he's a chubby guy who basically tore everything of consequence in his knee, and has played barely more than a full game in like 14 months. You're not restricted to keeping Olynyk or trading for Grant Williams, there's plenty other opportunities.

There are plenty of other opportunities but its depends on what kind of picks you're willing to part with. Williams shouldn't cost much and fits very well on paper.

He shouldn't cost ANY assets, Charlotte should be happy to salary dump him. The real cost here, would be that of opportunity: trading for Williams precludes you from acquiring someone with a better chance of helping you this season. Grant Williams feels like a hail Mary the Bucks should aim for, not the Spurs. Again, I think you're assuming it's a lock he'll get back to where he was 3 years ago, and he's suffered one of the most serious knee injuries we've read lately. That's basically my point of contention.

If we're going for often injured former Celtics named Williams, give me Robert - not Grant.
I've never been a big RWIII advocate, but yes, definitely: he's expiring, plus at least he's playing right now. And when he plays, he's better. So yeah, if I have to pick between the 2, I'd also go RWIII

Jimmy Butler went out with a knee injury and Kuminga still can’t get off the bench. They must have him a trade package already.
