I think they’re already giving him “go away”vibes. He picked up his option on his 1 + 1, something he has never done before. LA had always automatically rolled out a MAX 1 + 1 deal for him to sign, keeping him at the maximum salary every year. The fact that he opted in this year tells me they didn’t offer it. Supposedly there were meetings to set the direction for their future, and LeBron wasn’t invited, only Luka.
 
Bulls are rumored to become very active at the deadline. while there isn't an obvious target for the Spurs on their roster (maybe Buzelis, but him they won't sell), Jalen Smith would be a not so bad fit, he plays a quite productive season, especially on the boards. don't know what the Bulls might want (if you are stuck with Williams, you don't ask for Sochan, right?), they don't have 2nd runders this draft and next, so that's something to start, but likely not enough.

It's going to be an insteresting power struggle to watch.
If Lakers actually refuse to offer him an extension while he's still not ready to retire, I expect Rich Paul to go to war with them for the foreseeable future. And the entire Lebron circle.
Which will be entertaining to watch from a neutral standpoint.

But yeah, he needs to retire. It's just my opinion, but I hate watching the greatest players in any sport play way past their expiration date.
People still want to watch Lebron, but that Lebron is gone. What's left is just an old man that's barely a positive out there.

I already heard rumors that Klutch is proposing that LA move Austin Reeves out of there so that all of their money isn’t in the backcourt, trading for JJJ. His agent was pissed.

Reaves is an expiring contract and has no value unless he agreed to an extension with the team he'd be going to, which is unlikely.
Trading for JJJ would be hillarious, the most overrated player in the league.

Silver will have to intervene again because there's no reasonable path for the Lakers to become competitive again considering what other Western teams have at their disposal.

His biggest end of career bad move was reupping with the Lakers after the phony 2020 cartoon championship.

I guess thats why they refused to go through the rebuild. They got Randle, BI, JHart, Kuz and DLo. All either just feasible Starters or mere role players. Not the All-NBA headliner that tinsel town is always seeking.

Mostly agree as a big LeBron fan. But as a huge Laker hater, I fucking hope he sticks around another three years and makes them throw an extension at Bronny too.

If Nico hadn't bailed them out the west would be a lot scarier though with Doncic playing with a supporting cast that really fit him. So it's kind of nice seeing Doncic in a Giannis situation and one less high end contender to worry about.
 
Lakers have Luka, loads of cap space, Adam Silver, and the fact they are the Lakers. They'll figure something out, but we can still be their daddies.

It'll be very interesting to see what they do, have to figure their looking to add right? Only 3 back from the 6th seed and that franchise just won't tank.
Pretty much everyone on the roster is pretty easily tradeable, except PWilliams and maybe Okoro, everyone else is either an expiring or on a decent+ deal, and many can help a contender.
If they can move off Okoro + Jalen Smith they'll only have about $64M commited for next yr.

Jalen Smith is an elite Oreb, % would put him in the top15 in NBA each of the past 5yrs and he can stretch a lil/but shoots too much from there. He's 11th on the team in MPG, so should be expendable. They might be interested in Smith for Oly + Cash + a 2nd. Doesn't make them better, but clears money next yr and adds an asset.

The Luka Mavs were definitely scarier than the Luka Lakers.

I was speaking from the FTL perspective.
 
i have no interest in Kuminga but what the Warriors have been doing with him feels purely like spite at this point tbh
