In the land of make believe.... what would the Spurs have to offer to get Michael Porter Jr from the Nets? No doubt they are selling, but could we get him for expiring match, a first, and some future seconds? Nets want to tank...

He's the new Cam Johnson (on the same team in the same role, ironically enough)... stats propped up by being the man on a crappy team, being showcased for a trade. The Nets are probably expecting multiple FRPs for him, and a desperate team like GSW might just go for it.

I think he's in a similar boat as TMIII for me. Is he good? Yes. Would he better than Vassell and be a better fit? Maybe, but marginally. He's worth more to their teams (and other teams) than they are to us and to what it would cost us to get them.

I think that he'd be far more valuable than either Cam or Murphy short term because he's a proven champion and his shooting doesn't drop off in the playoffs.
And maybe even more importantly, he's a very good rebounder.

Out of our price range, not even worth seriously considering him, but he'd be a perfect upgrade over Barnes.

Personally I wouldn't call him the "perfect" replacement for Barnes, unless you're talking about demoting Castle's priority in the offense (which there may be an argument for, but I don't think the Spurs want to do this). Basically, I don't think MPJ is a perfect fit for a 4th/5th option. He's just too good for that (and he won't go for that), but that point that's really what we need.

To me the perfect fit is someone who can shoot, rebound and play decent D but is also ready and willing to play the role that Barnes and Julian are currently playing for us and not complain about it. It's too bad Julian isn't a little bigger because he's kind of turning into that idea PF with the way he is rebounding this season.

Of course it deserves repeating, this is likely the most coveted archetype in the league (and guys who can shoot-rebound-defend are stars, not role players) so we shouldn't feel too bad we haven't found that guy.

He averaged 13 shots at Denver.
Devin is at 12.5 this season and Barnes is at 9.
I don't think it would be that big of a change.

But yeah, I don't think Castle should be even the third scoring option as long as he can't shoot for shit.
That just won't work in the playoffs, we've seen it too many times.

I dream of Julian's twin Justin joining the Spurs. He is a smidgen smaller than Julian but is a ferocious rebounder both on offense and defense, has a very friendly contract and can shoot the 3 too (this year has been a rollercoaster but he has been better lately). Julian improved because he had a chip on his shoulder and he integrated his game well within the Spurs system. I suspect Justin can do that too. Trouble is that the Wiz have suddenly started to value him for what he brings and what he makes.
