Trade Spurs Trade Ideas

LaMelo just said he was open to a trade. It seems like Kon, Sion, Kalkbrenner and McNeely have brought a more serious hooper vibe to the team. Just my amateur take.
Will be interesting to see what develops. Ja/LaMelo/Zion swap would be fun. Clippers might have interest in LaMelo.
Melo has some nice tools but I don’t take him seriously. I think he actually prefers to put up good numbers to winning.

He’s like a hot chic that isn’t worth the headache and drama that she’ll bring.

I agree with the idea of bringing another center, I don't think we can assume Wemby and Kornet won't be missing any games going forward and they're going to be playing some time together anyway, it'd be nice to have a big body who can providing some rebounding and interior defense. I'm not really sure who can be had for cheap, maybe Goga Bitadze? He's got 2 years left (1 beyond this season) and is extension eligible next off-season, has been productive in Orlando but minutes have gone down a bit and they are struggling, Spurs are projected to have 3 SRPs 2 of them probably in the 30-40 range, maybe send Orlando 1 of them? -- EDIT: Looked at his salary and he's making about 8 million, a bit more than I thought, which is going to be hard to match.

Yea, I think the salary is to high a hurdle plus didn't he get in trouble for fighting a coach or something a couple years ago...

“In a s----- place,” DeRozan said when asked about where his team is emotionally. “Don’t nobody want to lose the way we’ve been losing. “I think it’s just everything right now for us is just s-----, honestly,” he continued.
“Sometimes when you’re in the deep end, it’s hard to hear anything. You’re just trying to swim your way out, one way or another.”

I’ve actually warmed up to the idea of Vassell for DePression a little bit. Defensively he is terrible but he is a decent option during stretches where the team can’t get anything going offensively.

we dont need another ball handler with a questionable three point shot, let alone one who doesnt play defense.

there are cleaner ways to salary dump vassell if thats all you want to do

This guy proposes Lamelo for Fox. I like to brainstorm trade scenarios, but his proposal looks more like a brain fart. I don't think I've ever proposed anything that stupid, TBH.

Lamelo for Fox? That has to be rage bait.

That's one of the stupidest trade ideas I've heard in a while.

Have they had a fallout?
Charlotte had a realization that most of us had at least 3 years ago: LaMelo is a non value added player, kind of like Trae Young. They both put up big numbers, but don’t impact team wins. Atlanta is doing about as well without Trae as they were with him and his big contract. My guess is that Charlotte and Melo would work out the same, no big drop without him.

Jay Huff with 3 more blocks against CLE tonight. He actually leads the league in BLK/min according the the Prime broadcast tonight.

He's my ideal target to send some SRPs and get a 3rd string C. He's in the 2nd year of a 4/$10 (club option in the final year).

We have UTA SRP, the least favorable of NOP or POR, and the least of IND or MIA this year.

We've sent IND an SRP in the 30s two years in a row, let's just get it over with now and get Huff in return.

We like what we have.

Been saying it since the old site: Jabari Smith Jr. would be perfect in SA.

I'm still really not in favor of any big trades, but I would like to see Bismack, Watters, and McLaughlin + 2nds used to bring in a 3rd C and a cheap shooter of some type. Then use the freed up cap space to sign DJG to a Champ type contract.

Remember when people on the old site wanted to give up 3 FRPs for Cam Johnson?

if i was a betting man, I’d bet one or multiple of Sochan, McLaughlin, and Lindy are moved by the trade deadline.

I’d love for Vassell to go, but he’s too incorporated in the rotation right now that I don’t think they’d like shaking the roster up as the team heads into the postseason. Different story if we were having a losing season. I think they’ll wait until the offseason to move him.

Adem Bona is now my go-to example of 2nd round malpractice. His player thread title would have been an all-timer too.

Damnit I thought he was going to propose our 4PG + Wemby dream team.

With Olynyk expiring that extra year on his deal is actually nice

Definitely seems like a brain fart. Like, there are conceptual reasons why it could make sense. LaMelo’s size and shooting advantages over Fox blend better with Castle/Harper. He’s also a better playmaker/passer.

But Fox is at this point a better player, more mature by miles, and fully bought in. Spurs don’t have any incentives to shake things up like this just for shits and giggles

Sochan may be traded, but I don't see any market for the other two. They're good, non-complaining end of bench guys. I like them fine as third stringers, but no one needs to trade for those kinds of players.
