Trade Spurs Trade Ideas

They would be useful, but both have 3-4 years owed past this season at 25+
Which is actually good since they'd retain their value.
We don't have cap issues for this and the next season.
Two playoff runs, then evaluate the roster in 2027.
Either trade Fox or trade Vassell/one of the new players.

We can give MIN their swap back which would be helpful for the Giannis package.
And I think it would be worth using ATL picks in this case.

If Mavs are blowing it up, we should give them Olynyk's expiring and some SRPs for Klay.
I’d actually MUCH rather have Max Christie if they’re taking a blowtorch to their roster. At this point,he’s a better shooter than Klay, and a FAR better defender.

Packaging two of McDaniel's/Gobert/Reid/Randle plus a boatload of picks doesn't seem worth it. That's another two steps forward one step back when you factor in Giannis's non stop injuries.

Why would they trade Christie?
I assume he's their only untouchable player other than Flagg.

Gobert would have to go, even if it's a separate trade. Can't play him and Giannis together.

I disagree.
He's an elite role player, but tanking teams have no use for those.

We own that MIN swap and ATL pick/swap, while ATL owns 2027 MIL pick.
Maybe something could be done there.
The Bucks can't tank, they don't have control of their own draft. The Wolves can use the players they send out to try and entice the Blazers and Pelicans to reroute the Bucks picks and swaps back to the Bucks, but things get complicated very fast. I don't see how the Spurs get in on that, unless the Pelicans decide they won't want to keep all of the Wolves players they get along with the forwards they already have.

Spurs should be all over Reid/McDaniels if they're available, either of them would be great for us.
The talk around McDaniels seems to be that he's valued at about 3 FRPs right now... I don't think the Spurs would even consider it for a moment.

McDaniels would make us the best defensive team in this modern 3pt era.

I agree. I think we cpuld get McDaniel in a 3 team Giannis deal

Depends if we are talking 3 protected picks or later 1st rd picks. Two from us might be more valuable if unprotected (Atlanta 2006 or 27 + the Minnesota swap so they can trade it unprotected. )

MIL still has the worst of theirs and NOP's pick this year, so tanking is still in order. They could still end up as high as the #2 pick.

I think getting McDaniels is almost impossible. The Bucks would want to keep this guy on their team rather than trade him for 3 Spurs picks.
I think there is all of one scenario that we get McDaniels. He is part of a trade to bring a superstar to the wolves, and then whoever the team is that get's him we offer either 3 outright first or 3 best of swap rights and salary filler for him. No way Minny just trades him to us for any players not named Wemby, Harper, or Castle.

He's not messing up the tank this year and they won't be tanking after this season since they won't have control of their picks.

Dumping Christie would be super dumb on their part tbh.

PJ Washington still remains the ideal target. Would easily give up the '27 Hawks pick to get him but I don't think it'd be enough.

Crazy that Max Christie was the best part of the return Nico got for Luka

McDaniels has a pretty high salary if I remember but he would be great as a role player. But would his salary be a roadblock to keeping some of our current players on rookie contracts...

I think all scenarios where we get McDaniel are predicated on Giannis going to Minnesota

Can't be traded until the summer, but, would be a dream target depending on what we do/don't do before Thursday.

They could 2027 pick back for 2 ATL picks we give them, tbh.

Mavs can't tank after this season.

Magic are $5.6M above the tax. A way to put them below it using Spurs and Bitadze would be:

Spurs trade Biyombo and Waters for Bitadze
Magic trade Bitadze for Waters
Third team trade nothing for Biyombo

Add the necessary second round picks and cash consideration to make the trade CBA legal and worthwhile for the third team.

With all due respect, I'd rather keep Waters than try for Bitadze. Not enough there. Might help the Magic but wouldn't move the needle for us, especially since the Magic have buried him on the bench. He didn't even play against Cleveland. That says a lot about his value.

yeah, i'm not interested in any trades that are more or less the equivalent to a lateral move.
