Game Thread Spurs @ Pacers (Mon 10/13/25) [6:00PM CDT]

Sloppy play all around. Vassell is regressing. Doesn't look right with the starters. Castle is definitely starting IMHO FWIW.
I think he always was. I don't see how you start both Vassell and Champ over him (much less Sochan and Keldon).

Question is looking like can you start Vassell over Champ? I could see Harper and Vassell being a fierce bench combo.

Wow is Luke gonna be the value signing of the summer? Sean was raving about his hands last game, now comparing him to McHale on his footwork lol.

Harper making something out of Wemby's mess. Kid is so good getting to the hoop!

And to think ST was having a meltdown because it's a 4 year deal.

I agree with a lot of what your saying, especially team lacking flow and identity. But think about what your saying.
Spurs had no consistent starting 5 in Vic's rookie yr? Of course, it was a team that was built to tank hard that happened to luck into Wemby. Outside of him, Vassell was the only guy rostered that looked anything like a real NBA caliber starting talent. Sochan was forced to start, ditto Tre and Collins and Champ. Shit even Branham. Keldon fooled people based on volume as a tank commander.
Yr two? Added CP3 and Barnes as starters, added rookie Castle, coach strokes out, still started Sochan out of necessity, traded for Fox to be the Robin you want. Robin gets hurt, Vic has fluke health issue, interim coach still takes us from 22 wins to 34 missing Wemby and Fox 1/2 the season.

I don't think it’s a stretch at all to assume a healthy Vic carries us to 44+ wins and finishes Top5 M

Great point about the coaching improvement. I really didn’t think about it like that. That was a lot to navigate and yet still improve.

Damn loving the new guys. Especially awesome to see how well Victor and Luke play together.

I might be too optimistic, but how do you even punish that lineup?
By going super small and trying to run them off the floor? Because no lineup can outmuscle them.
But if you go with a really small lineup, how do you defend?

Harper/Castle/Keldon lineup, interesting.

Harper
Castle
Champagnie
KJ
Wemby

Lineup right now for recording purposes

It's time to win games. Victor should no longer be allowed to play as a point guard when the team is ahead on the scoreboard and average teams. He needs to learn and gain experience, but these risky situations should be reserved for less crucial moments. There is talent in the team, so there's no reason to ask Victor to be Jokic (right now).
