Game Thread Spurs @ Pacers (Mon 10/13/25) [6:00PM CDT]

Whew, we got some players now. Add Fox to this and we're cooking.

despite the TOs Wemby looks like a monster ... and that burst of speed by Harper for the final spurs bucket of the half was sweet
Quinn Buckner said what I was thinking about Vic's turnovers: he's trying stuff. I'm pretty confident that he's seeing what works and what doesn't in a game that doesn't count against a great team.

I gotta say, it's a lot easier to keep up with games and a lot more fun when the site doesn't take 2 hours to load. Thanks again for the new site.
For me it's the main reason why we needed the upgrade.
I kind of gave up posting during games over the past few seasons because by the time post goes through 5 more plays happened.

47 members and 197 guests for a Monday pre-season game, 8 pages by halftime. Not sure the TOSB ST hit that the past 3 seasons for a regular season game.

Knew this was looking like a team that could really be something.

Watching while I work (will have to watch the replay before I submit grades).

Quick observations:

-Castle's shooting stroke looks like it will be just fine
-Champ looks like our starting 3 to me
-Wemby is molting into his next form, and it's going to be absolutely unstoppable
-Black Falcon, what's the matter bruh? No freaking out... yet...
-Sochan, not missed at all
Now that Vic is showing the strength to play in the post next step is to learn to handle the double team

some first half observations

1) Harper gets to the rim much more easily and smoothly than Castle off the drive. much more natural penetrating point guard. he also just never looks out of control or rushed. the assists come easily to him even if they arent spectacular/dazzling passes

2a) If Wemby just stops trying to be a ballhandler in the half court offense... he's looking like he's really taking the leap. I like him pushing in transition. But once the driving lanes become even mildly congested or there's a competent perimeter defender in front of him, it continues to be a trainwreck.

2b) Defensively, he was active... but when guys have the ball at the 3 point line, he should invite the drive more, as he has shown the ability to recover and block from behind. He should especially have this approach when we have the 2 big lineup. Instead he has backed off and given up a few clean 3pt shots over his head

3) I really hope this shooting leap from Julian is real

4) Harrison Barnes looks like complete toast. with that said, he looked pretty damn abysmal last preseason, and a few posters including myself were having DeMarre Carroll PTSD. hopefully he's just playing possum again

5) castle doing a little bit of everything. whipping one handed live dribble passes, being a pest on defense, and even went 2/3 from 3. however, he was responsible for a wide open 3 given up in the corner when he collapsed into the paint when both wemby and kornet were there... i dont understand this stuff at all

6) i dont hate how Vassell is playing offensively... but he just cant hit the broad side of the barn. and for a guy being paid 27 mil to be a shooter and scoring specialist, thats a big problem. defensively, he hasnt been as active as he was against Utah

7) Kornet mostly solid, except one possession where he irresponsibily "closed out" on a 3 point attempt that was already underway and gave up the easy rebound

8) Keldone doing us a solid with his trade value tbh

Just hold the ball over his head and at least half the double team probs would dissolve

ImposibleIt's impossible to thank you enough for creating this space for all of us.Regarding the game: eliminating unnecessary dribbles from Wemby, what a monster he is and is becoming. 20-10 at halftime. Using his strength to displace opponents. Intimidating. What blocks

while it didnt fall, the soft roll on that 3pt attempt by Castle is usually indicative of good shooters touch

I am really starting to hate Devin Vassell. He and HB on the floor together is a problem.

Vassell looks like he should be a good shooter but for some reason can never find the consistency to save his life. He must have a poor workout regime.

So we're really doing this, starting Vasselline and playing him 30 min/g when there are so many better options... prayingdog.jpg Mitch brings him off the bench to start the season

That is a problem with poor D shooters when they can't score. Hopefully HB will be back like last year.

I was so excited when the Spurs drafted the Florida State guy and the Baylor guy. Now I want both of them to sign with a team in China.
