I don't really view it that way at this point. I honestly think we looked at Minnesota playing LA in the first round, beating them in 4 and then having some rest before facing us. Minnesota has proven they're a tough out, and a tough matchup for the Spurs, so I kind of think this loss last night was more strategic than people realize.
 
Weeks before it happened it feared this outcome, I was really annoyed last night, but it's done.
We can't change anything now and this game should be archieved as far as we go. The players should always have it in the back of their minds, though.

It's okay to not lose your shit over yesterday's loss but you're giving them way too much credit tbh. They were desperately trying to win that game last night.

I can't wait for the coaching staff to be quoted in saying that "Victor could had played last night if it was a playoff game".
 
According to reddit, some Spurs executives in designated lounges were visibly upset about last night result. I bet those were from financial department and tied to ownership and they just saw the team blowtorch million of dollars-worth of WCF revenues against a bunch of 3rd stringers. You could even tell from Mitch Johnson curt responses in post-game presser that, organizationally, they made the desiscion to go for it but failed spectacularly .

Yeah but these guys were thinking about their bonuses. It is a business first and foremost. The more you line up the owner's pockets the more job security you got. You don't think Brian Wright was livid last night?
 
I guess that my real disappointment about last night's game was that it was an ill-fitting end to a phenomenal season. Strategy aside, it was just a very poor ending to an otherwise, pretty spectacular year. The repercussions of the loss are yet to be determined, but, could be significant. OTOH, the T-Wolves may take it to 7 games and anything could happen.

Well, they shouldn't have sold all those SRPs for cash considerations instead of trying to get a reliable third string big. An investment that would've paid off in no time.

It's not an ideal path for the second round but we gotta look at things half full.

People are sleeping on the wolves, but this team if healty is pretty damn good and is going to give Denver a lot of problems, lets see

True, but we all know that he steps up in the playoffs and you know he likes to ball out against Denver. Should be a 6 game series at minimum, more likely to go a full 7 games.

The way folks were so confident in this match-up was puzzling to me. We couldn't stop them with or without Wemby. Also when is the last time Jokic had an average game, let alone a bad one, vs the Wemby Spurs? Even Victor hasn't been able to disrupt him efficiency-wise, not to say stop him.

Don't act like you weren't there also saying Denver isn't to be feared because they were facing injuries before they went on their big win streak.

Legit sometimes wonder if you're trolling when you throw out all these strange narratives and fake storylines, tbh.
 
Also hilarious how people keep bringing up the Barnes 10PPG thing and the Spurs couldn't even get that done for him during the game

I changed my opinion after the last two games. That happens by the way when new facts emerge or other undercurrent trends solidify. We couldn't stop them with or without Wemby and that's been going for a couple of years with Jokic in particular barely affected by Victor's disruptive defensive presence not to mention Fox looking like he will be a choking pumpkin in this matchup..

Same here. I don't think I've been this mad at a loss since the Nuggets series in 2018/2019 (not that I was super mad with this one). It's been a while. Last truly bad losses were 2017 playoffs game 1 vs Warriors and then OKC series previous year.
This game has really pissed me off, though. All starting with the fans not wearing the shirts and the team playing WEAK. The Nuggets came in a bitch slapped them with their third stringers and Jokic just looking to get the required minutes. The team should be super embarrassed with this loss. Capped off a great regular season with a gutless performance.

Not the way you want to go into the playoffs. I wish the playoffs started earlier. Waiting a whole week sucks. The team is really going to have to turn it around before the playoffs start because an effort like this will get them embarrassed in round 1. Can't have any repeats of this in the playoffs.

I'd rather play in 2-3 days time. They need to abolish this play-in BS. Teams are tanking left right and center. All those teams fighting for 7th and 8th should all be playing to win at the end of the season if they want to make the playoffs, but they're all just throwing games knowing they'll still get a chance finishing 9th and 10th.

I doubt Denver is losing to them for a third straight time in the playoffs. Wolves fully healthy are really good, but they haven't been healthy (I don't expect them to just turn it on) whereas Denver have gotten healthier and are playing some of the best ball of the season right now. The Wolves would be capable if they're fully healthy and in form (they've been very, very inconsistent), but I don't know if they can just turn it on. I also haven't looked how they are health wise heading into the playoffs. Are their players now healthy? Edit : Just read LeBowen's post about Edwards only playing 3 games in the space of the past month. Yeah, Wolves aren't likely to be able to turn it on and beat this Nuggets team.

Spurs bought into their own hype and crapped the bed. Victor probably also thought/expected the team to win and was probably overconfident, so he likely sat thinking they've got it wrapped up. Kinda soft if you ask me. If he wanted to win the game, he should have played if he could play. He's got no one but himself to blame if he actually wanted to win this game.
