What a disappointing end to the season tbh. Good payback from Denver after we beat them a few years back in the finale.
I'm watching the game now for the first time and can't believe we got smoked. I stopped watching 2/3rds of the way in the 4th quarter. First or maybe second time this season I didn't finish watching. Maddest I've been with a loss in close to 10 years. What a freaking terrible performance. I don't know if the Spurs thought they'd lay down, but Denver gave them every chance to win this game by sitting almost everyone.
All the Spurs have done is boosted Denver's confidence. Their 3rd and 2nd stringers kicked the Spurs' asses. Steph said he can't see a team beating the Spurs 4 times, well, you better freaking see this Denver team being able to do it. Spurs played everyone except Victor and Luke and were embarrassed. What a terrible performance to close out the season. May have just thrown away a great shot at a Championship. Denver paid the Spurs back for screwing their 2024 season. Thinking about it now, being in the wrong bracket can cost you (I really forgot about Denver's late season loss to the Spurs in 2024 as I really did believe at that it cost Denver the Championship being in the other bracket that season). IMO, if Denver weren't in that bracket, they would have beaten Dallas and won the Championship.
Not directed at anyone in particular - What's with the San Antonio fans. I knew it at the start of the game seeing close to half those guys not even wearing the shirts, it was likely not going to be a good night. Only fan base that a good chunk of fans doesn't wear the shirts. It's only shirts. I know people might like to be individuals, but they weren't asking anyone to face paint or wear crazy outfits. As an overseas fan, I hate seeing that lack of unity when other team's fans have no problem doing it. Nearly every other team's fan base would wear those shirts if they had a team like this IMO.
Lakers did their job that’s for sure. We didn’t show up.
This makes it worse. Lakers helped the Spurs out bigtime.
These small lineups are awful. A third center (a true one) is becoming more essential. I might just jump on the “draft Aday Mara” train.
Nah, don't need one people around here say. You can't get a guy to be a third stringer that's better than Biyombo or Mason. No one will accept that role.
I dont know why the heck they benched both Kornet and Wemby.
Dude you are going to get a week off. This is your most important game if you want to win.
I just can't believe the Spurs played it this way. They Denver'd themselves. That regular season loss Denver had against the Spurs I believe cost them the Championship in 2024. Spurs may have just done it to themselves.
we haven’t been able to defend them all year. Thats very concerning tbh
Yep. Steph has said he doesn't see a team beating us 4 times in the playoffs, well, the team better open their eyes, because I see this Denver team being able to do it easily. If Victor doesn't outduel Jokic and cover their asses on defense, I don't see the Spurs winning. A lot of it's going to be on Victor which isn't fair for him to have to carry that kind of load.
Oh yeah, Jokic should be MVP, tbh
He's now got my vote. He's the MVP IMO. I believe Victor is a very, very close second. Unfortunately, that loss in Denver and Jokic's performance against Victor sort of gives him the edge in it IMO.
I don't know, maybe I am disrespecting Shai, but I just think his team is much more stacked.
Why the fuck would you want Denver and then OKC in the WCF when you could've played the Lakers or bitch ass Rockets in the 2nd round? Not to mention OKC could very possibly sweep their way to the WCF.
Houston's in the other bracket, so I don't know what you're talking about there. And there's no way the Lakers were beating Minnesota if they finished 3rd, so I have no idea if you even looked at the standings at all.
It was always going to be either Denver or Minnesota in round 2.
from the headband shit to force feeding barnes early hunting that averages record they clearly thought DEN's bench would be a walkover
borderline disrespectful to the opponent tbh and they rightly got punched in the mouth.
gonna be tough watching wemby have to go to war with jokic in a seven-game series knowing it could and should've been him easily destroying "sengun" or "ayton" instead
The team got what they deserved. I didn't think one game could be such a downer. Ended a great regular season terribly.
Also, there was no chance the Spurs are playing against Sengun in round 2. Houston is in the other bracket and it was not possible for them to end up on the Spurs' side. It's been like that for a while. I guess you don't look at the standing at all. The Lakers weren't likely to beat Minnesota in round 1 either. It was either Denver or Minnesota in round 2.
Man, I'm not a stat guy at all, and I'm not trying to call fans out (not directed at anyone in particular), but how do so many Spurs fans not know who the matchups would be? Even if people didn't look at the standing all season, I would have thought fans would take the time to have a look at the standing this last week or so.
Lol
I said it earlier. You see how they attack the rim with him sitting over there in street clothes? His impact is ridiculous.
I would normally agree with you and I have Victor as my MVP up until that game in Denver. It maybe the biggest regular season game and Jokic won the Nuggets the game, so I have to give Jokic the edge if choosing between Vic and Jokic. Victor's still a very, very close second for me. If the Spurs won that Denver game and Victor outplayed Jokic down he stretch, I'd not acknowledge anyone else as the MVP (even if someone else won it) over Victor.
That maybe true but you make it worse when you have Keldon, or Bryant guard him. That's just stupid and giving Valanciunas the opportunity of shooting 90 percent when even with an average 7fter guarding them they could miss a few shots but they are not going to ever miss with an undersized player guarding them plus they will kill you on the boards.
It's pretty simple. I think the Spurs disrespected the Nuggets and thought they'd roll over or something. It was very stupid going small ball against Valanciunas let alone Jokic. Very half assed performance by the Spurs.
Wemby wants this win from Bench more than players who are on court.
Ridiculous ridiculous performance. Team hasn’t looked sharp since that win against Boston.. TBH
Victor was trying to will the team. Man, what a competitor. His teammates didn't show it on the court, though.
Mitch had a short post-game availability and looked slightly upset. They, front office and ownership, know deep down they fumbled the bag big time tonight (potential extra revenue from WCF among other). Just a sour note to end on for such a great season.
Darn, haven't had a chance to watch any post game interviews. Sounds like Mitch knows they threw quite a lot away with a loss in last night's game.
thankfully i skimmed through this game and didnt watch in full or i woulda been 10x more pissed
I ended up watching the last bit. I kept thinking the Spurs will comeback until about the middle of the 4th and I gave up, but just watched the rest of it out now. I wasn't going to finish it, but I did. I think there is only one game earlier in the season I didn't finish watching until the end.
